Seems just “OK” to me..
My P2 applied OOS online at OCCU in July 2024, hoping to get some future use of the referral program. Emailed OCCU after about a week, and after some back and forth, they said:
“I spoke with my director and unfortunately since you don’t currently reside in Oklahoma, you do not qualify for a membership here at OCCU. So we cannot proceed with opening you a account with us.”
On the account application, you will select a branch, and it’s my belief that branch is the one who processes the application. That said, I DO NOT recommend 4956 S Peoria Ave branch as “your branch” if from OOS. Could it be YMMV at other branches?
I emailed the person who referred my P2 what branch they used, also from OOS, and they never responded. Oh well. I knew it was a longshot anyway. GL if you try!
There was no hard pull, or Chex pull, unlikely on EWS, but since they did not complete the application process, I cannot guarantee that would be the case for someone who actually gets approved.
Edit: I just looked back through the email chain with my P2’s referrer, and they described them as Chex sensitive. So, there is that too.
