OkCoin (Crypto Exchange) Promotions: $50 Referral Bonus, $20 BTC Hold Promotion & More

Update 4/14/22: Reports of receiving $50 now.

Update 4/1/22: Many people received $10 instead of $50, so worth considering (check out the comments for more information).

Update 3/25/22: Referral bonus back to $50 for both parties (ht dealbreezy) Another update 4/1/22: They don’t seem yet to be paying out the $50; they are only giving $10 for some reason for now.

Update 8/16/21: Referral bonus has been increased to $50 for both parties. Hat tip to reader Eli

Our Verdict

There are a number of other targeted promotions that can be viewed in the sidebar, not sure how common they are. OkCoin is one of the larger exchanges out there. You can view more cryptocurrency deals by clicking here.

Does anyone know whether any crypto bonuses offered by these exchanges and apps can be churned? Davis I’ve had Cake DeFi, Celsius, Nexo, Hodlnaut, BlockFi, WeBull, eToro, Voyager, Abra, OKcoin etc… and closed all the accounts after getting the bonuses. Now I’m just wondering which of these is worth wasting time for? Are any of these confirmed to be churnable? slowbrake

I haven’t tried more than once. I haven’t read of any being churnable.

FWIW – I think the programming on these sites is better than a bank and since they don’t have any rules to follow it’s probably not worth trying.

Used ShawntheShawn’s link. One thing you might need to notice before using any of the referral link is that the referee can see all referrals’ names and trading volumes on the page, which is kind of wired. But I’ll put my link here in case anyone want to earn that $50 free BTC.

Thank you, rollingoreo. To clarify, only the referrals’ first few letters of their emails are displayed, not their names, though they could be related for many. But it is weird that you can see all referrals’ trading volume, and there is no privacy setting to turn it off.

Yeah to correct my word, it it only the first three letters of the email with the rest of them masked.

Also about the fees, if you put a limit order there, the fee I got it 0.1%, but you might need to wait if your limit price is below the market price

Update: If you sign up with your phone number, only the middle three digits are masked.
Anyway I would consider closing my account after being able to withdraw the awarded bitcoins.
(Thank you for anyone who used my link, just don’t forget to go for KYC Level 2(default is 1) and buy at least $100 USDC to qualify for the referral bonus. Also consider to opt in their $20 trading bonus which requires another $100 trade. Both can be done through limit orders to minimize trading fees)

Update: They refused to payout the trading bonus saying I already participated other bonus programs : (

It seems like they have fixed the issue. Got $50 BTC for a new referral (thanks a lot to whoever used it).  William Charles  Chuck

Back to report that OKCoin, as of this morning, has now fully paid the referral bonus for both myself and P2. They basically put in the additional $40BTC. Sold my $100 worth of USDC, bought to qualify for the bonus, and wire transferred the USD proceeds out to SOFI. Confirmed, via chat that SOFI has no fees for incoming wire transfers. Time to let the BTC marinate for 180 days

I received both the referral bonus and the $50 new customer credit. Score! After signing up using a referral link from here, I also completed the referral form in an email I received soon after opening the account. Good to see both came through!

For those that plan to sell their $50 BTC referral bonus(es) after the 180 hold and transfer your cash out of OkCoin, you will have to set up a wire transfer. Why? Because OkCoin does not do ACH out.

The following financial institutions offer FREE incoming domestic wire transfers:

Affinity FCU
Alliant CU
Ally
Capital One 360 checking (and several other accounts, but not all)
DCU (Digital FCU)
Delta Community CU
Discover
Evansville Teachers FCU
Fidelity Brokerage/CMA
Marcus by Goldman Sachs
NFCU
NWFCU
One Finance (no fee listed, but I’d verify)
PenFed CU
PSECU
Service CU
SoFi (no fee listed, but I’d verify)
USAA
Wings FCU

This list is not all-inclusive & fee schedules can change, so don’t just assume my list is accurate. You will also want to verify your bank’s routing number (ABA) prior to setting up the Wire Transfer. Some banks use a different routing number for wires than ACH. Pretty much all the mega-banks charge a fee for incoming wires & many of them are $15+.

Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek Nice, very helpful list. I always just transfer LTC but wire would be a lot easier.
