The Offer
- Oxygen fintech is offering a referral bonus:
- To start earning, you must open a new Oxygen Deposit Account using a current customer’s referral link. Depending on the referrer’s Element ($10.00 for Water, Air and Fire), you’ll each receive the initial $10 bonus after the referee opens a new account.
- You’ll both receive an additional $100 bonus when the referee receives a qualified payroll direct deposit of $500 or more and the account has at least five debit purchase transactions using the Oxygen Visa Debit Card (including Virtual Card purchases) that have been posted and settled to the account.
- You can earn up to $1,000 in Oxygen referral rewards per 6-month period.
Our Verdict
We’ve reviewed the Oxygen bank account fully in this post which some people find useful for their cashback boosts. I thought it worth a dedicated post for this bonus which can be worth $220 for someone in 2-player mode.

Important note regarding Oxygen referral links that you may have from a friend and/or are posted online.
Logged in to my account to send a referral link to someone and option wasn’t there.
Through CS emails and calls have been told there is not a current program, expect to re-launch “soon”
Asked what happens if a friend who already has link from me opens account…was told no bonus will be received.
Bogus because there isn’t a pop-up screen or anything that would alert user to that snag!!
While I am not 100% confident the agent I spoke with was accurate, seems most prudent to wait on opening accounts.

Chuck. I’m getting redirects to “old-referral” or just onboarding page from P1 and P2 links.
I contacted them last week when I couldn’t find the option to refer someone in the Oxygen app. Support said:
“At this time the referral bonus option is unavailable in the app. We are working on enhancing our referral program which we hope to release in the coming weeks.”
Not sure why they still have all their FAQ on their site if the program is on pause. Maybe for those who were already in the process of being referred.

If I had to take a guess they are going to implement the larger $$$ amount debit purchase requirement, vs 5 debits.

Account opened, debit card sent. Tried contacting support about a referral not tracking, and my account was closed without notice. Online login no longer works. Luckily, my account was zero’d. F*** these guys, pull your money out while you can. They’ll sink like every other FinTech.

No bonus yet, so I called in and they said that I need a minimum of 5 debit card transactions to qualify. So it sounds like they haven’t implemented the new terms yet 🙄 I just reloaded Amazon 4 times so hopefully I’ll get the bonus in 2 weeks.

Terms say 10 biz days after meeting qualifications. So I’ll give it a few more days and hope for a payout.

I think they took down the Sept 5th document… or I cannot find it today. I know I read it a couple days ago.
It’s still there. Through the direct link then in the Terms and conditions.
It’s to prevent abuse with the gas stations. ☹️
Have you received your bonus yet? I saw that the terms changed for debit card transactions (new terms state you must have at least $350 in transactions), so I’m curious if that has been implemented yet.
I called to see if the referral worked. CSR said I am ineligible for the $100 bonus b/c I opened 10/19 but the referral link was sent in April so it’s past the time limit(I used a buddys link from a spreadsheet in discord and opened mobile). That doesn’t make much sense. Maybe HUCA idk.
Every time I submit a referral link request in the Oxygen app it’s a different link than the last, so it does make sense there is a timestamp in there. It’s also possible someone already used that exact link if it was posted on Discord… that’s why I always create a fresh link.
I doubt HUCA will work, but you can try CFPB or elsewhere.
I am trying to see that clause in the full terms but now it looks like they took it down. Reverting back to just 5 debits, I hope?
I’ve never tried CFPB. I might try just to be aware of how it works lol. Otherwise not worth the effort IMO.
I just got off the phone and the bonus is pending now under rewards. HUCA worked.

What’s funny is when I send out a referral link out of the app, the text/mail it generates still says 5 debits and no mention of the $350 minimum. Not nice.
Any recent datapoints if Wise still works to trigger the DD?
Tested Amex biz checking and chase biz checking. No bonus. Checked in with my referrer and they said it’s not even showing up in their dashboard. Will set up employer DD then reach out to support. It’s possible that the referral link did not track.
Enjoying this account otherwise for the $1 cashback on coffee and fast food since I grab coffee from a chain about twice a week anyway.
Similiar DP. Used Chase business with “payroll” in memo line, but no bonus so far. Used real DD for P2 and bonus showed that same day. Referral for P1 to P2 shiws nothing, but did get an email confirmation of the Referral when P2 opened account.
Correction: Chase business direct pay with “payroll” in memo line did trigger the bonus. It must have been waiting for the debit transactions to settle.
Update: bonus paid out a few hours after my employee DD hit so the referral link I used did track.
For clarity, I used Chase Biz ACH transfer, not the ACH payment service that others had luck with.
