- Enroll in E-Statements.
- Conduct 15 or more Debit Card purchases each month.
The Fine Print
- Dividends earned will remain in your Advantage Checking account. Monthly requirements: To meet the minimum qualification requirements, you must: 1) make fifteen (15) signature debit card purchases of a minimum $5 transaction amount that post and settle to your account; 2) have at least one (1) ACH (Automated Clearing House) debit or direct deposit post and settle to your account; and 3) be enrolled in and receive eStatements.
- The monthly qualification cycle is defined as a period beginning on the first day of the current month’s cycle and ending on the last day of that same month’s statement cycle.
- Only one Advantage Checking account is allowed per primary member’s social security number.
- ATM-processed transactions do not qualify as debit card transactions, and ATM fee refund structure does not apply.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
This account has no monthly fees.
Our Verdict
Nice to see a rewards checking account with an actual high rate compared to basic savings rates.
Hat tip to noob_bonus
Even though I work in the service area of this bank, I was not approved for an account because my company is not based in the service area.
inb4 someone finds a way to get approved out of footprint, tons of people apply and get automatically approved before someone at the small CU notices their customer base growing exponentially then does a mass shutdown and everyone’s $20k is in limbo as checks move slowly or get lost in the mail.
This incredible chain of events would actually be 25% more catastrophic than you think….the max earning an 8% APY is $25k, not $20k! For some reason the DoC info is wrong, but the moderators haven’t corrected it yet (see my comment below).
Best of luck with your bonus, and best of luck also to anyone who finds a clever way to be approved OOS — definitely one of the more interesting bonuses around!
wish they would just let me donate $5 and join like other CU lol.
Always with the 15 debit requirements. Anyway to automate this?
Maximum balance that earns 8% APY is $25k rather than $20k.
Good offer for those who live/work in PA, despite the requirements — the extra annual gain vs. a standard 5.25% savings account is $687.50.
