- The $100 reward will be deposited into the new customer account 90-120 days after the initial deposit and is not considered part of the minimum opening deposit. Referring customer account will be credited with $100 reward 90-120 days after new customer account has been opened.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
They offer a free checking account with no monthly fees. I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so I’m unsure if any early account termination fee is charged or not.
Our Verdict
If anybody is able to refer other readers please share your details in the comments along with any datapoints you have regarding the bank (e.g soft/hard pull). For now it won’t be added to the best bank bonuses due to the unknowns and the fact we don’t have anybody that is able to provide referrals.

Did anyone find anything more out about this? My parents live in a town with one of these, it’s an address I use as my home frequently. Def would use someone’s referral.
Actually I realized I live just a few blocks from a branch! Def doing this before it expires. Anyone have a referral link?
I opened an account today. I asked about the referral promotion and was given a form which the referred new customer must present at the time of account opening. The person doing the referring must provide their full name, address and last 4 digits of their account number. The rep who opened my account didn’t know if there is a limit to the number of referrals that could be made. The rep said he would find out and get back to me (not holding my breath). But since Beneficial doesn’t use a referral code and you have to provide personal info to anyone using your referral, this may be a moot point for anyone outside your inner circle.
The schedule of fees lists a closing fee of $15 if the account is closed within 90 days of opening. There is also a $5 per month inactivity fee on a checking account after 6 months of inactivity. They also list a charge of $5 to reissue a debit card. Really?? Oh, and there is a $5 charge for “lost bankbook replacement”. Bankbook?
Anyone have a referral I can use for this? Would love to get in on this and help someone out at the same time………. Seems like no $100 bonus without referral.
