Seems like they are extremely chexsystems sensitive and are also allowing some opening and then shutting down the account a day later for being out of state/too many accounts in the last 12 months.

Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
C&N Everyday Checking Basic Checking has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
Account needs to be kept open for six months otherwise bonus is forfeit.
Our Verdict
Online sign up seems to allow nationwide opening, but all branches are in NY & PA. We need to know if it’s a hard or soft pull and the direct deposit requirement is somewhat confusing as well.

Tried applying for a third time, got: We’re sorry, we’re unable to open your account right now. You’re welcome to connect with us
Is this Chex? Been lol/24 every prior time too
Got an email regarding being declined, it’s chex
Successfully opened last night online from the “extended market area” shown on map with Chex at 7/24. Acct number immediately provided upon completed application. Received very pleasant call this morning confirming promo terms, occupation, employer etc.
I asked about the confusing verbiage about the payout timing. It reads “within 45 days of sixth-month direct deposit”. The requirements only state 3 months of DD …so? The rep said the 6 months is from the opening date
Silly question. When saying, NY does that exclude nyc? Looking at the coverage map and that sliver of area is not present.
Since NYC is literally “off of the map”, it’s safe to say that it’s not eligible for the bonus.
Customer Service Confirmed, Deposits accounts are served for all NY,NJ area. It means NYC is included.
Just tried to apply from South Jersey via Firefox desktop and mobile safari, got a generic “Unable to process your application right now”. General error/shutdown or Chex based?
First time was lucky since I didn’t hit apply button next to the promo code field. Once you do, you get a specific promo disclosure along with the other standard ones. I got as far as selecting account, personal info, ID, promo code, disclosures. All my info was displayed to review, next page I got shot down.
My Chex has cooled down, guessing something like 3/3, 5/6, 10/12?
They do have a branch in Bucks county about a 30 min drive away, I might consider for $400, this offer seems good through end of the year. But I wish I knew if my denial was for Chex or some other issue on their end…
They did say all of NJ was in their market. I asked them on chat because I’m in SJ too.
Are you going to apply?
Got a secure email this morning, denied due to Chex…
Confirmed chex stats are 4/3, 6/6, 10/12. Including this hit.
I am within footprint (Chester county) and just got denied because of Chex. Seems they are Chex sensitive.
What were your Chex stats before applying?
After chatting with a rep on their site, she confirmed that my county, which is in the “extended” market area, is eligible. You can always chat to confirm and save a screenshot.
There is a map for Extended Market.
I think PA and NY extended market should get bonus but highly doubt NJ.
C&N used the same green color for the heading of “C&N MARKET AREA” as they used for “C&N FOOTPRINT – BRANCHES & LPOS” in the map below.
It’s extremely unclear if the “EXTENDED MARKET AREA” is included in the promo or not!

Yes, I saw that. I probably still won’t apply due to my bad experience last time.
Beware of applying for an account with C&N as they are known to pull stunts like this: #1445307 .
If this offer had come out a couple of weeks ago, I might have tried again before I went on an applying spree!
I avoided this last time by going and doing in person. Planning to do the same now.
I would do this too but there are no branches close to where I live. Did they mention anything about your Chex in-branch?
Last year when i did this i applied online and had issues and went to branch and they did chex override (meaning they didn’t bother asking). 1610321
I think that you might have missed my question in the CA post so I’ll ask it again here.
How many days after you applied for “Forever” did you receive the certificate by email?
it took 5 Biz days.
Thank you! I’ll stay patient.
Bonus has a very specific footprint.
*Offer valid for applicable counties in our C&N Market Area located at https://www.cnbankpa.com/About/Investor-Relations/C-N-Corporate-Profile.
Here’s the map with the relevant counties: https://www.cnbankpa.com/getmedia/14d29c24-88a8-46ed-8b35-4bf93c0d6bf9/CN-Market-Area-Map.pdf
Is the Extended Market Area eligible? If so I am in
I agree with you that it’s not clear at all!
Yes. See this comment https://www.doctorofcredit.com/pa-ny-cn-bank-400-checking-bonus/#comment-2011571
When I initially saw your comment, I agreed with you. However, I am not so sure as I stated here: #2011513 . What makes you sure that only the green area (C&N FOOTPRINT) is eligible for the bonus?
I think that there’s at least a 50% chance that the “EXTENDED MARKET AREA” is also included. I definitely understand
Frito Pendejo’s confusion.
Yes extended market area is included.
