Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
The easiest account to keep fee free is Freestyle checking, there is no monthly fee as long as you have eStatements enabled.
Early Account Termination Fee
$50 fee if closed within 180 days of account opening
Annual Fee $25
Annual fee will be charged to your account 30 days after account opening on the last business day of the month and annually thereafter. Annual fee is non-refundable.
Our Verdict
Previous best bonus was $150 or $250 targeted. This is obviously a significantly better bonus. Bit annoying that direct deposit is required but considering it’s for $400 total this is worth doing and we will add it to our best bank bonuses.

I received a targeted offer in the mail sent to the previous tenant before me, back in 2023. The banker wouldn’t let me open the account in person since it was targeted to someone else but I went home right after and was able to apply the code to open it online and got the $700 bonus. Looks like you can’t apply the code for the current offer in the online application so I’m going to print the current offer out and take it in branch sometime this week when I have time. Will keep y’all posted if it works!
There wasn’t an error, the application doesn’t have anywhere to enter the promo code in anymore
>Looks like you can’t apply the code for the current offer
I’m not sure what current offer you’re seeing, but I’m wondering if you’re referencing the $600 direct mailer offer with promo code: DM6002502. If by chance you are, see my post here
If you’re referencing the $400 offer mentioned in the DoC post – it’s expired, as noted in the title. But now I’m curious what offer you are referencing.
Haha sorry for the confusion! I’m referencing the currently active $600 direct mailer, not this actual post. I couldn’t find a post on the mailer offer and I saw a couple other people commenting below on the $600 one.
Also update: I successfully opened an account with the $600 bonus offer in branch without a direct mailer. I found a copy of the $600 mailer on google and printed it out. It wasn’t targeted with my name and the banker I opened the account with read it over and opened the account without a hitch. Got a printed document confirming that I was enrolled in the offer with my welcome folder. I tried to make a separate comment with this update, with the link to the mailer I found, but I think it got blocked due to the link. I was pretty pumped because the effort to bonus ratio is fire in this one. Happy churning!
Sounds like you got lucky with that banker, but that’s awesome!
I’m trying to open one myself with a code I have from a mailer, but their online application is strange. It says “Congratulations! You have successfully submitted your application. Your account is approved and pending activation. We’ll be in touch regarding next steps.”
The account number is provided, but it’s like they’re using double-speak, ‘you’re approved, pending approval!’
It’s been a couple of days and I’ve not heard anything yet, like a welcome email or a call from them, but I’m trying to avoid having to go to a branch since it’s ~1 hour away. And the mailer isn’t addressed to me, so there’s that. It seems like a very YMMV thing.
Any special requirements for those 15 debit purchases or minimum? I couldn’t find anything; was thinking of buying $5.5 gift cards at amazon r something?
I think Amazon gift cards should be fine. I just got the debit card myself and will probably do a mix of things. It’s cool that ATM withdrawals count. Not sure what they mean by “mobile banking” counting as a transaction – like logging in?
This was a repost due to moderation.

“Mobile banking” likely means transfers initiated via mobile app, sending to another bank. Definitely could have been better stated.
It’s VERY rare to see ATM withdrawals counting for a promotion, so they are quite liberal in what they accept as a debit.

Not sure if everyone in those states are eligible or if this is only targeted. It does include a promo code, however.

Tried to apply, but there is nowhere on the application to enter a promo code. Probably need to open from the actual promo splash page, which I cannot find.

And beware… this is one of those banks that pulls Chex before submitting the completed application. CC funding still limited to $100.
I called them to find out, and they said it is a direct mailer only promotion.
Yeah, well, I called after trying to apply and was first told to go to a branch to have the promo code added, and once I explained I am too far away, I was told to call back Monday because the internet specialist would have to help.
I was also told my account is already opened… which is what I noticed while paging through the application, even though I did not hit the final submit button.
I did notice the line that the offer is non-transferable, but that’s not too uncommon.
So… this is going to be a headache. Depending on what they say I will just have them close it, and I will dispute the Chex inquiry (which is hugely YMMV), or I will keep moving forward and hope I end up with the bonus after being a pain in their ass.
Got excited at first, went to review app process, stopped and remembered they pull Chex before completing app (prior experienced with their past business offer), sux biggly. Then I saw your DP. It’s a reminder to verify everything prior, which I know you often do. That’s not like you to jump the gun. What happened this time around?
I have had good luck with promos with this bank in the past… and was trying to get in prior to the DoC dogpile. I will play it out, since I have no choice now that I have the account, even though I never hit “submit”.
Emailed CS on Saturday. Response today:
“There is nowhere in the online application to add this promotional code. The reason for that is because this promotion was mailed to specific households with a scannable QR code that would take the user to a special link for the account application that would prefill the promotional code to the application.
If you did not receive this postcard mailer, then you are not eligible for the promotion. I apologize for the confusion of finding the promotional disclosure separately on our website and assuming you are eligible for it.”
Bottomline, 100% targeted. I would need to find a clueless banker to apply the code in branch, which is outside my area of travel. (or, someone needs to leak that specific link for new applications)
The link is fnb-online.com/Get600Feb25 but it requires a unique code from the mailer. The code is NOT DM6002502 – that’s more like the promotion ID.
Gotcha. Well, it’s nice to see how it was supposed to work. Thanks for that.
Got a call today from “my” branch manager about it… and I emailed her the promo info, but haven’t heard anything back. It’s going to be a lost cause and I will end up closing. I was hoping they put in a generic code, but it’s probably HIGHLY unlikely. I’ll give it some more time before pushing to rescind the application.
In other word the door is shut.
Adding a bonus failure DP here in case it’s useful.
5/16/24 opened account online
6/7/27 1st real DD $1488
6/21/24 2nd real DD $1488
6/27-7/11/24 > 15 debit transactions (mostly Zelle payments)
Never received the bonus. I guess these were targeted offers only and I did not receive a mailer, although somehow I had a promo code? cE8jVh
Isn’t the DD requirement $3000?
Any luck now?
Any recent DP if transfer from Chase still works. Most recent DP I found is more than 2-3 years old.
4/12/24 opened account in branch by phone, $3000+ payroll deposit and 16 bill payment.
7/18/24 $600 bonus post.
BTW. I saw they do have current promotion running till end of year. $150 for $1500 in dd. Not as good as mailer or previous promo. Link.

Requires opening a Workplace Checking account…
“Product Eligibility:
Missed that part. Good catch.
Got the mailer for $600. Any reason the PayPal transfers wouldn’t work for the 15 debit transactions to get $300? It also says on the mailer that transfers to other accounts, checks and mobile banking as part of the qualification list. Never seen it so easy. Don’t feel like loading up on Amazon gc if don’t have to. Anyone used anything other than Amazon or cash app to meet qualifications?
I did a similar FNB offer in the past. Terms were: “Debit transactions could include POS, PIN, ATM withdrawals, transfers to other accounts, mobile banking, online bill pay, wire transfers, personal checks, and Zelle.”
Fees that FNB charges don’t count. This is an easy requirement to complete. Don’t overthink it. 😉
Thanks. It almost sounds too good to be true. 😂
March 13 – Opened using $600 mailer.
March 26 – Transferred $2,505 using Huntington Bank Bill Pay
April 2 – 16 Amazon Gift card recharges/purchases from $1 to $1.15
May 15 – $1,255 Salary Direct Deposit
May 31 – $1,255 Salary Direct Deposit
June 20 – $600 Promotional Reward deposited.
Just opened this for P2 with a $600 mailer. I can’t find any emails/letters where they provided the account number so I can’t enroll in online banking. Received the debit card though. I’d rather not make P2 call in if I don’t have to. Anyone else open this recently? How was the account number provided? TIA
Having the same issue myself, I called they mention the account number was provided in the online opening process, which I did not see, only other way to get the account number to set up DD is to go to a branch or wait for the debt card to set up online which its been 2 weeks and no debt card.
I ran into this as well, but going through the files I saved during the application process (I’m getting better about doing this), I realized that the account number is in the application summary – 4th page.
Hope that helps!
You absolutely rock. I watched back my screen recording after this and found the account number. Now I get to save up my karma with P2 for a Chase recon call. Thanks!

William Charles A $600 version of this is open again as of March 2024; I got a targeted mailer. $300 for deposits plus $300 for 15 debit transactions. Restricted to about 8 states in the East Coast and Southeast. Did the $400 deal in 2022-23 but still eligible. https://fnb-online.com/Get600March24
Seems like it requires a promo code?
Yes, afraid so.
