Paypal Repents

What a pleasant surprise! Paypal Digital Gifts purchases have been going smoothly of late for most people.

PPDG is a favorite place to buy gift cards since they earn 5x with INK and the cards come quickly via email. They often offer discounts to boot, both on eBay and direct PPDG sales.

There have long been two problems with PPDG purchases. Firstly, there were obscure limits as to how many gift cards can be purchased per day or month. We tried cracking the code many times; here are a few renditions.

The other problem was the verification texts. PPDG has a practice of sending verification texts after a certain purchase threshold, a number that varies by the account. Fair enough. But their IT was messed up and verification texts often went into an infinite loop without ever being able to complete the purchase.

The good news that I’ve been experiencing, and have heard from the other the same, is that both problems seem to have been largely resolved sometime in the past month or two. The text verification requests still come but it’s a quick and painless process. And the volume limits are mostly gone as well.

Now, I’m not saying you’ll be able to buy tens of thousands in a single day – maybe and maybe not – but I’ve had no problem buying $1,000 or more in a single purchase. And I’ve done a many thousands of dollars worth over the past month.

Not everyone is experiencing Paypal’s remorse, but from what I hear, most people are being treated fine both from the IT end and the bandwidth limitations.

We might have to do away with one of my favorite meme’s of all time.  🙂

Well My bank account was tampered 4 times. PPDG access my debt card thru paypal unauthorized. I get an email stating my Steam Account has been actived and $50 was debited. then I noticed in my Paypal activity that another 3 X $50 PPDG have been completed. A total of $200 is on hold by my credit union as I type this comment. I contacted Pay Pal this moring they are in the process off refunding the charges… but what if I didnot have the funds in the account??? I account had definitely been hacked. I truly think its internal… Because I have 2 pay pal accounts.. A business and a personal.. Well the transactions were done thru my business account.. but the amounts were debited from my credit union which is attached to my personal pay pal.. ..I could be wrong but why would a hacker request the transaction thru my business paypal but take the money from an bank account that is attached to my personal paypal??? Just a question that made me go hmmmmmm???

I’m glad you’re having a pleasant experience, but I could not possibly disagree more.

I have just started making purchases through PPDG in January. I’ve had eight security holds placed on my account when trying to make purchases in the last six weeks. It happens 60-70% of the time I try to make ANY purchase. Only twice did I get a text. Multiple calls have proved to be a waste of time, nobody can tell me why there’s a problem. All they can say is there’s no problem with my account, and must have been something in their security checks.

Eventually my account is cleared and I can make the purchase. Try again a few days later? Frozen. “We’re doing it for your protection. $200 is a lot of money.” Puh-leaze. The first or second time, yeah I understand. But at some point when does your so called “security” check realize this is now a typical purchase?

Yet I keep trying… I guess I’m a glutton for punishment.

PayPal is scum, and without question the worst organization I have ever dealt with. Their systems are garbage, their security checks are garbage, and their CSRs are garbage.

PPDG through PayPal. I’ve only tried one other purchase that went through SVM using my Cap1 card, no problem there.

Why, do you have a solution? I’m all ears.

Same here, reps do try to help but can’t override their security system. I can’t buy anything on eBay and haven’t been able to since I tried to pick up some GCs from PPDG a little over a week ago. Frustrating, and I’ve missed out on several good deals because of it.

It has been good lately. I’ve purchased over $1K in last month and only needed 1 txt msg yesterday for fraud prevention. Hope it lasts.

PayPal is still being PayPal for me. Some gift cards come within minutes, others I’m waiting on close to 24 hours now. It’s not that I’m not ok with waiting a day, it’s the fact that it’s out of the norm and leads me to believe I’ll have to babysit the transaction.

I am fairly sure I have a $1,000 / 30 day limit, which is what everybody seemed to have about a year back.

I’ve definitely purchased over $1k in the past 30 days with no issues.

Time to go knock on some wood.

Got blocked yesterday.

5 x $50 for $200 went through no issues. (max/card)

tried buying another brand also max/card, same thing 5 x $50 for $200 -> infinite verification loop, after successfully verifying multiple times. Called spent 20 mins on phone for nothing. Try again in 10 mins = OOS

Ideas? what do you normally do in this situation?
