The Offer
- eBay/Paypal cardholders can now redeem their points for any available gift card brand at 1 cent-per-point
The Fine Print
- Valid through March 31, 2017
Our Verdict
Cash redemption value on the eBay/PP credit card is 6,000 points = $50, making each 100 points worth around 83 cents. They periodically offer select gift cards in select denominations at a redemption value of 1 cent-per-point, e.g. 5,000 points for $50 eBay gift card. It’s highly unusual that they run a promotion like this where you can buy any gift card in any denomination at 1 cent-per-point.
Most people have some gift card brand which they value at more than 83%, usually brands like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Albertson’s, ACME, etc., and most cardholders will probably want to cash out their points now. Personally, I bought Amazon.
Hat tip to reader Mimi
Heads up on another round of 1 cent offers on various hotel and airline GCs. Just go to manage your rewards, click on Featured Rewards and choose the hotel/airline GCs you want.
I redeemed two $10 WM gcs last month, I am now keeping an eye on their monthly featured rewards for better redemption value instead of $50 cash for 6000 pts.
Anyone knows how long it takes for them to ship eBay gift card?
I ordered on 5/16, their page says it was shipped 5/17.
As of right now, 5/31, I have not received a thing.
Can’t remember, but I’d give it another week or two before worrying.
PSA to everyone with this CC, tomorrow is the last day to redeem the GCs that are 1 cent per point. I was able to redeem $200 worth of GCs and they came via USPS mail in 4 days.
Initially, when I saw this offer, Acme and other grocery stores were showing 1 cent per pt but later they revised it so when I clicked giftcards under manage rewards, there was FEATURED REWARDS on the drop down menu. I clicked that and there were 50 to choose from. I chose Target and WM GCs in different denominations.
Hopefully, we’ll see more of this kind of offers from now on. I used to redeem $50 for 6K pts but with the GCs, I can stretch it to more than $400 worth per year.
If “$.01” is because there’s no cent sign on your keyboard, here’s how to do it:
– Long-press the dollar sign on a mobile keyboard.
– Google “cent sign” and copy the result.
– In Windows, hold Alt and type 0162, or if you can’t remember that, press Win-S and search for “character map”.
– In MacOS, type Opt-4 (where the dollar sign is).
I’ve used a similar technique in the past (from WordPress itself, a bit simpler). Not sure why I didn’t do it this time.
I think Chuck just prefers $0.01, I think ¢ looks nicer but some prefer his format.
For me only a select few shows 1cpp.
Home Depot
Pier1
Lowes
Target
TJ Maxx
Bed Bath Beyond
Wal-Mart
Pottery Barn
Williams-Sonoma
No Amazon and eBay for me ;(
Hmm, odd
I’m not seeing it either, only a few select “featured” gift cards are discounted (Target, Walmart, Home Depot and a couple more). So just the monthly rolling brands as usual.
Amazon, Best Buy, eBay, etc. all appear at the normal price to me ($50 for 6000 points).
I am not seeing it, I see $100 AMZ for 11000 points
Hmm, what about all other brands and denominations? Maybe it’s targeted, but I think it’s working for most.
I feel I’m missing a big point, but where is this available? eBay or Paypal Gifts?
This is for eBay/PP credit card holders. You redeem rewards via your credit card online account (which is accessed via you Paypal login).
Have you seen any update on the PayPal/ebay 2% card?
Nope, I assume it’s still targeted.
there are also $25 WM gc available for 2500 pts for those who have lower pts saved. For those who have Murphy gas stations, know that you get 3 cents off per gallon when you pay with your WM gc.
Thanks for the hat tip, my pleasure to give something back to this blog : )
Thank you Mimi. I don’t check the Paypal/Synchrony website very often so I appreciate the notice.
Thanks Mimi!
