Piggy Review – Coupon & Cashback Shopping Portal App Get $15 Sign Up Bonus & Up To $25 Per Referral

Piggy is a browser extension for Google Chrome that will automatically apply coupons on select websites when you check out. It also acts as an automatic cash back shopping portal so that you’ll earn cash back on your purchases. The below video does a good job of explaining how it works:

Cashback Rates

When reviewing a cash back portal, the most important thing for most people is what sort of cash back rates do they offer. I always use cash back monitor to compare. Let’s look at Piggy vs the top portal according to CBM.

  • Macy’s:
  • Target:
    • Piggy: 5% on some categories
    • Simply Best Coupons: 5% on some categories
    • Topcashback: 2.25% on some categories
  • Sears:
    • Piggy: 2%
    • Giving Assistant: Up to 7%, standard is 3%

From what I saw, Piggy was usually about 1% lower than competitors.

Things To Keep In Mind

  • Piggy only pays out four times per year
  • They are missing some key merchants when it comes to cash back (e.g eBay & Amazon)
  • Minimum cash out is $50

Referral Program

You can refer people to Piggy, they will get $15 for using your link and you get $5 when they use your link (this is bumped up to $25 if you refer 100 people). For whatever reason the referral bonus is not mentioned on the sign up link. You can find your referral link here. If you want to sign up, please consider using our link found here. Feel free to share your referral links in this linked thread, please don’t share them in the comments of this post as I’d like to keep that for people’s experience with Piggy.

Final Thoughts

A lot of cash back sites are adding browser extensions that do the same thing, I don’t know if any will automatically apply promo codes or not. Personally I find checking rates manually to ensure I’m getting the best bonus to be worth the relatively small amount of effort, but I know some people are super lazy and don’t bother. This might be worth it for those people – but I’d encourage them to try to check manually instead to ensure they get the best cash back rates.

I’m new to all of these cashback shopping portals. Will you please tell me which one you find to be the best? Thank you

FYI, I like earnhoney for auto promo codes. I also have coupons at checkout and I let both run.

Earnhoney has a cash back portal but haven’t tried it.

With that said, I use both basically to “test the waters” and see if I can get a promo code quickly. They usually don’t have promo codes that a google search won’t find.

Thanks, NinjaX – I think this ‘Piggy’ extension has somehow attached itself to my computer. When I try to get on Chrome, the Pig appears at the bottom of the screen, and I’m unable to get online. Any idea how to get rid of it if you don’t want it??

Hi Will,

I’m curious if you tested the coupon portion of it? Were there any benefits to having coupons you didn’t know about applied?

DoC, I could not find a way to add my referral links in the link you provided in your post. There is no way to enter comments it seems.
I used this link: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/piggy-referrals/
