[Extended] Plastiq Partners With Visa Savings Edge To Offer 1% Back On First $2,500 Payments

Update 1/1/22: Extended until 12-31-2022.

Update 5/2/21: Deal is now valid through 12/31/21, as shown at this link. Hat tip to reader Gerald

Update 12/30/20: Deal has been extended until 2/28/21.

Update 9/30/20: They changed the offer to just getting 1% back on the fee (2.85% – 1% = end fee of 1.85%) instead of full reimbursement of the 2.85% fee.

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

Plastiq is the newest partner of Visa Savings Edge. They have the following offer for Visa business cardholder:

  • Get the Plastiq 2.85% fee automatically credited back to your Visa account on your first $2,500 in payments made on Plastiq.

The Fine Print

  • You must register your Visa business card first in order to be eligible.
  • Offer ends 12/31/20.

Our Verdict

It’s not clear whether this will only work for new Plastiq cardholders or if it’ll work for anyone on their first $2,500 which is charged to a registered Visa business card. Stephen from Frequentmiler leans in the first direction while my leaning is to the second. Let us know if you try.

I think this is now officially expired as I no longer see it when making a new visa savings edge account for a new business credit card

Is this expired now?

Answering my own question, NOT expired. There is more information when logging into visa savings edge with expiry I believe sometime in March 2023. Worked for my brand new Chase ink unlimited card existing PLASTIQ account.

Wells Fargo Business Platinum does not qualify. Darn. Now have to do organic spend for both P1 and P2. Anyone called to ask about this?

I never got the Amazon Gift Cards for spending over $1,000 in December & January. They gave me the runaround, looked like this:

Feb 12: You’ll get it emailed on Feb 28th
Feb 28; Contact us back if it doesn’t show up by the end of the day
Mar 1: Please send us the full terms & conditions of the promotion to get the gift cards
Mar 3: We sent you any email to say you don’t qualify

Note: There is no email anywhere in Google’s massive search engine in my inbox from the company. That last response was from a FB post where they don’t have my email or case number to even confirm I don’t qualify…🧐

It’s a crazy company that is doing false advertising and in California that’s eligible for a nice class action suit.

I can confirm that this is working Jan 2022 (1% back).
I signed up, forgot to register my card, made the payment and then within the hour the realization dawned on me that I had not registered the card and so went ahead and registered and kept fingers crossed for 6 whole days including the weekend. Day 7 saw the Twenty Five dollar credit to the business card. So it appears to work even if you sign up just after making the payment of course before the amount posts to the card. ( I did check to see if there was a pending charge on the card before I registered and yes there was a pending charge)
Also, the payment I made was not by clicking thru the visa savings edge webiste as I needed to make an estimated tax payment for which Plastiq has a separate website that cannot be clicked through.
Finally, I chatted with Plastiq to ask if I can open a separate business account and was told that is ok. So I opened a new Plastiq account for the business and another visa savings edge account to go with it , registered yet another business visa card and make yet another payment also on the same day. Again saw the $25 credit after 1 week.
I would have made my payments even without this as I had maxed out all 6 slots for 1040 CC Payment and still owed more and this was the only way I was going to get it through to complete Ink SUBs.

Today (1/2/2022) I opened a new Visa Savings Edge account and new account at Plastiq with my small business card. I found this Plastiq offer through Visa Savings Edge as well. Unfortunately, Plastiq does not allow paying a mortgage using this card.

The support page says to try using a Visa Business Card, so very confusing.

I’ve got a support ticket in with Plastiq but don’t expect it is possible to pay your mortgage with a Visa, as usual with Plastiq.

Offer end date still shows 12/31/2021 though the page is up. Best to wait until that is corrected I guess.

What card are you planning to use on this? They’re refunding only 1% of the purchase meaning you need a 1.85% or more CC.

I have to meet SUB for Ink Preferred. So yes though it is not profitable on this transaction, I can meet my SUB for a small loss of 0.85% = $17 . It might even have a small profit since the entire 71.25 fee is a business expense that can be tax deducted.

Chuck I added my new biz CC (US Bank Business Leverage) to my VSE account and there is no “enroll now” link once I am signed into VSE. I made a Plastiq payment on 1/21/21 and haven’t received any rebate from VSE. Based on my datapoint, I think it is only for new Plastiq members who sign up or enroll through the Plastiq VSE link.

Thanks for the dp. Alas, as with anything with plastiq, they are masters at ambifliguity, of chronically being unable to write up any promotions clearly. The idea seems to be they can catch more flies with honey meant for others….. til we sheep hazard to ask questions — or, for some of us, just glaze over anytime we read of a new, yet so often lame, plastiq non-deal…. The thrill is long gone.

Grant
Thanks for the dp. Looks like this was extended so I am thinking of giving it a try for rent pay.
Do you mind sharing what MCC do you see Plastiq coded as on your visa card?

Thanks Grant
This is the generic MCC 7399 for visa and for MC probably it would be same.
I was hoping Plastiq to code with something more specific but looks like that is not happening.

Ya, I would think the MCCs for Visa and MasterCard are 99% the same.
