Update 8/11/22: They are cancelling the order and giving a $5 gift card credit for the issue. [Sounds like it’s one $5 per account, not per card. (?)]
Update: Readers report already receiving the gift card and it’s a $15 gift card. So you’ll want to cancel your order to avoid having to deal with all the peeling.
Update: at this link it’s still showing $20 for $15. Again, you need to use Buy Now.

- There’s currently a price mistake on Amazon whereby they are selling $20 physical Amazon gift cards for $15 when you use the Buy Now option.
Our Verdict
This won’t last. Not much risk if you shop a lot on Amazon, hopefully they’ll ship out the advertised $20 gift cards and not $15 gift cards.
It’s been noted that Amazon does not even carry $15 physical gift cards which should increase the odds that they’ll actually ship out $20 gift cards (or cancel the orders).
Bought $15×5, got email for the $5 credit. Nice, was able to use it on any product without the “must be sold and shipped by amazon.com” stipulation.
Didn’t chat with a CSR, had a $5 credit post to my account yesterday.
Got the $15 card today. Not gonna waste time calling/chatting w/ CSR for the $5 credit. But will definitely waste time posting about it on DoC! 🙂
Just tried chat rep, no credit offered. No return allowed.
Gosh, that really is a disappointment. I just got the cards delivered early today, then we had a lightning strike take out the mesh router. I thought it was serendipitous that I had received the cards early and went to use them.
It kind of funny though, just the other day P2 had jokingly speculated about something like this happening.
I got my $5 courtesy credit after contacting a CSR.
I canceled at 11:18am CDT on 8/10/22. No $5 courtesy credit for me 🙁
Spoke too soon, I received the Courtesy Credit email at 7:38pm on 8/12/22.
“Hello,

Amazon.com Gift Card in a Gift Box Reveal (Classic Black Card Design)
In this case, we’re unable to offer this item for the incorrectly posted price. Therefore, we’ve cancelled your order for this item, and you haven’t been charged, but an authorization may be visible on your account. This should be removed according to the policies of your bank.
At any given time, despite our best efforts, a small number of the millions of items on our site may be mispriced.
To help make up for the inconvenience, we’ve applied a $5 Amazon.com Gift Card to your account. This amount will be applied to your next eligible order automatically without entering a claim code.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Sincerely,

i’m on chat with them now to see if they will give me more than $5. ridiculous 😀
They wont give more than $5. Thats their ceiling for any price mistake/errors/shipping
snafus etc
after a few back and forths, i was able to get $20 more in promo credit. i mean, i did purchase 30x of these gift cards that they cancelled.
On more than one occasion, I’ve received $20 credit without any escalation on their end that I was aware of. This is in a $25k+ spend account, so not sure if that gives front line CS more leeway.
Glad that I did not jump in on this price mistake and end up with a bunch of $15 gift cards that I do not need, but I guess congrats to those who got a $5 Amazon credit lol.
Received 2 cards for $15, called to complain, CSR said should receive e-mail within 72 hours to get $10 credit. We’ll see.
How is everyone getting the $5 credit? I bought 20x of these and have received them but not added them to my account balance.
I think you need to send them a complaint regarding the error to get the credit.
