The Offer
The Amazon Chase credit card and Synchrony store card are running the following promotion:
- Amazon Prime members get 6% cashback on all Amazon and Whole Foods purchases made on Prime Day 2022 (July 12 – July 13) using their Chase Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card.
Our Verdict
This is an annual deal for Prime Day and a nice little perk for Prime members. I usually stock up with an Amazon reload (our affiliate link here and below) during Prime Day to get the extra 1%. You can also load up on Whole Foods gift cards or any other third-party gift card at the increased 6% rate.

It will all be copacetic if you are able to use the $12.50 which I think expires a few weeks later. So if you are chasing the extra 1% and reload for months worth of spending, you might not use up your $12.50 in time (unless there’s a way to selectively apply your promo credit later). And doing the math, the $12.50 bonus is equivalent to the extra 1% if you were to reload at $1250. I have no plans on spending that much in the near future but may top up my reloads just a touch anyway.
$12.50 promo expires 8/28 per the terms.
You also don’t have to reload your balance, you can buy a gift card and not load it. I don’t know about anyone else, but I keep a lot of Amazon money around, accumulating from Chase/BoA/Amex offers to Office Depot, Staples, etc.

LAME. The card already offers 5% back. Why not offer 10%???
Because that would cost them 4% more.
