Prime Members can Order ‘Add-On Items’ with Free Shipping – No Minimum on Amazon Day

A few months ago, Amazon launched Amazon Day which enables you to choose one day of the week when all your Amazon deliveries will ship. That option is now available for all Prime members.

Amazon recently made a change whereby Amazon Day shipments are not limited by the annoying ‘Add-On’ item minimum of $25. This means you can buy any Add-On item with no minimum and have it delivered free on your designated Amazon Day.

I’m really excited about this change, thanks to Dansdeals for pointing this out. To me, the value of Prime goes up with this, and I think it’s likely to get me to use Amazon Day more often, even for ordinary items, once I start using it for add-on orders.

During the initial trial of Amazon Day they had enabled this Add-On advantage, then when it rolled out publicly they removed it, and now they’ve reinstated it. Here’s what shows when a Prime member adds an Add-On item to their cart (link to sample item):

Here’s what shows for those without Prime:

First impressions. “We’re sorry your package is late” … “We’re sorry it won’t arrive today”. Had I been notified earlier in the week, it would have saved me a lot of trouble. Very bad Amazon. ):

I am an amazon prime member but I couldn’t find where I can set up my amazon day. Has this already open to public? Thanks.

This is another gimmick from Amazon to move Prime subscribers to Amazon Day and few months down the road shut off the Add-On benefit.

Interesting development. Wonder what the economics are on this that getting people to use amazon day works out better for Amazon to justify eating the shipping.

For people who make 2 or 3 amazon orders a week, they just got a huge chunk of those people to accept only one delivery. Saves a bunch on shipping.

This is great news, but does anyone know a trick to only show add-on items when your searching or browsing? There’s a way to exclude add-on items, but can’t find a way to limit your browsing or searching to just add-on items.

I must be doing it wrong as I tried that last weekend and just tried it now and can’t see any results if I enter a product like “shorts”

I ordered my first add on item last week and it was delivered last Friday with this service. It is a very good option. Do anyone know if this will work if I cancel my Amazon prime?

For me the Amazon prime didn’t give me any value. Im not able to justify the cost, normally I get better prices in other websites or when I need something of Amazon I normally get free shipping.

are payments for add on items on amazon day still charged separately or are they combined and charged as one on amassing day?

I think you can convert that to Amazon GC credit and then use it as such. Rather than using it strictly for buying a Prime membership.

Yes. Thanks. I may just do that. I did the free Costco membership too. Fewer and fewer reasons to pay for membership frankly.
