Priority Pass Lounges Can Now Be Accessed With Capital One Venture X Card

Capital One Venture X cardholders can now access Priority Pass lounges with their Capital One Venture X card, rather than needing the Priority Pass card. You can access many Priority Pass lounges with the Priority Pass virtual card, but not all lounges are accessible in this way.

It would be great if all cards with Priority Pass access gained this functionality as it’s one less thing to worry about. I assume card issuers would want to add this functionality if possible as it would drive cardholders to keep the card in their wallet, but it’s possible Priority Pass charge a premium for this option and that’s why we don’t see it.

William Charles it looks like Capital One’s website mentions something about Visa Infinite cards removing some benefits to this version of PP in the FAQ below.

https://www.capitalonetravel.com/lounges/partner-lounge-network

Under: “What is Priority Pass and how do Venture X cardholders enroll in it?”

“Effective January 1, 2023, Priority Pass non-lounge airport experiences (like dining, retail shopping and spa discounts) are not part of the Visa Infinite® benefit program for Venture X cardholders.”

Sad if true saw this posted a few places on FB as well.

Not a deal killer for us ATM, but will have revisit in 2024 – but we have 8 PP experiences we have regularly visited on West coast SFO-PDX-SEA.

LAX is my home airport. There are no PP lounges, just experiences. And the restaurant credit has helped a few times when it’s late and the lounges were closed.

It’s not a deal killer for me either, but it definitely puts a damper on things.

It’s seems like its been a whike since PP offered Panda Express at LAX, as well as “listed” Alaska lounge in the app. But I try to avoid LAX if not flying Delta an even moreso if flying Int’l.

Now they just offer video games and massager chairs as a PP experince at LAX.

Lounges/or Resturants & Bars are for more beneficial when traveling .

Slightly off topic…I had PP membership through my Amex Platinum but recently decided to close that card. I’d like to use my Venture X to continue using PP but there doesn’t seem to be any way to disconnect my PP account from the old Amex Plat. Do I just make an entirely new membership through Capital One and ignore my current PP account?
Any ideas. TIA.

Your Amex PP should be unusable now if you closed the card associated with it. There’s no rule about having only one PP account, and some of us have multiple multiple Priority Pass cards.

Easiest way is to create a new PP account

My Oxygen Fire debit card can be used to get into PP lounges too. My card number is associated with my PP member number.

Now if only Cap1 would increase the SUB for those of us who didn’t app before March 14… I’m holding out until after July 4th to see if it happens. A little ridiculous that the SUB on the X is the same as the SUB on the regular Venture cc.

Same thing happened with CSP and CSR. I’m not sure when we will see the increased sign up bonus on the Venture X.

I don’t have this card but based on the opinions here of people who also don’t have this card it seems good

Lotta people here are too boomer to just add the digital PP card onto their phones instead of carrying an extra phys card around in their crammed wallet / rubber-banded card stack, and it shows.

Nor does the Venture X, apparently. I’m curious how they’re doing this: Does the magnetic strip swipe as PPass? Do they make your CC number your PPass number? I can’t imagine training lounges to recognize dozens of types of card (worldwide) that get access. They’d also need a mechanism to identify revocation when a card is closed.

I’ve never been to a lounge that didn’t accept the digital card.

any idea if ALL restaurants, which participate in PP allow account holder + 2 guests (3 people total)?
Or do some PP restaurants allow only 1 guest (2 people total)?
thanks!

Haven’t seen any restaurants that allow 3. Only option I have seen is 1 guest.

Ah ok. I’ve done 3 people total many times. Once even did 4 people total with only one membership card, but that was sort of a fluke

You CAN bring more people, but for each $28 credit, they should be charging PP, which in turn charges you ….

I’ve never been charged for using PP at restaurants with 3 or 4 people total using one membership card

Don’t think the lounge restaurants would take the Venture X card. Even if they did I wouldn’t give it to them, as they may get confused and run it through their credit card machine. So I would still need to carry the PP card.

I agree with this. I think it just increases the risk of a charge happening by accident. I like the option in theory as a backup, but I’m still going to travel with my Priority Pass.

Yes, I too will be simply carrying my PP Card, as I can see a lounge host accidentally charging the credit card for lounge access.
