The Offer

Offer found in weekly circular

  • Purchase two Vanilla Visa gift cards and earn 800 Plenti points.

The Fine Print

  • Valid June 05, 2016 – June 11, 2016
  • Limit 2 offers per card

Our Verdict

Deal really depends on you being able to purchase variable loads at Rite Aid with a credit card and also being able to unload them easily, obviously use a credit card that earns at a high rate at drugstores. Plenti points are not as good as cash (no matter how much Plenti tells you otherwise) but are worth 1¢ a piece when redeeming with participating merchants.

I went to Rite Aid last night. Yellow signs plastered all over the gift card section state, ALL PREPAID cards are cash only. Nothing mentioning reloadable cards only. So, I didn’t even bother and left.

I’d go to another Rite Aid if I really wanted to do the deal, not call corporate.

What is often location may vary could become a hard and fast rule.

Probably per Plenti card, so no, unless you use someone else’s Plenti account for the subsequent transactions

Limit 2 offers per card, so does it mean I can buy up to 4 Vanilla GCs to earn 1600 pts?

Me too! Upstate NY. Can use 4 different RA. At one, the teenage female cashier was adamant about “cash only”. Since I never argue with these folks, drove down the road about 2 miles to another RA and no problem. Went back to original RA 2 days later, she was not there, bought 2 more. Just like Chuck, got $16.00 on both cards. I use them for milk gallons.!!

I called rite aid corporate to clarify the policy. its only reloadable pre-paid’s. VGC should be fine unless you have an overzealous employee. This is in NJ.

It is the stupidest thing that could ever be done – to call corporate about their policies. Hope you never do it again.

Corporate will set the policy on these things regardless not sure how thats stupid. Wasting my time to drive to a store and then being told that I cant buy these cards is stupid.

I mean it would be naive and stupid to believe that RA is so blissfully unaware and that they only recently changed the policy on reloadable prepaid and by accident left non-reloadable untouched b/c of some massive oversight

I had recent success, but it has become more location-dependent over the past couple months.

so I am thinking… with Citi Hilton… if I buy 2x$500… I’ll get 3k Hilton points… pay $12 in fees (I am guessing?) and get $8 back to use at Macy’s… so it’s like paying $4 for 3k Hilton points.

does this sounds right? it may be worth it but then I have to liquidate…
