Ebates/Rakuten has launched Rakuten Takeout which offers 20% back at select restaurants when you order online takeout for pickup. The 20% will be deposited to your Ebates/Rakuten account.
Currently only available in SF/Bay area, but the plan is for this to expand out further to areas nearby in the coming months, and I presume eventually to more areas and other states.
It is powered by Rakuten Ready (aka Curbside). You do the order completely within the Rakuten system, including payment. (Unknown if it codes as Dining.) Hopefully the prices are the same as they charge in the restaurants, and you’ll net a clean 20%. I’m not sure if using Rakuten negates using another card-link program or if it’s stackable.
Sign in with your Rakuten account to get 20% Cash Back on your Rakuten Takeout orders…Note: Once the store confirms that you’ve made a purchase, we’ll add Cash Back to your account and notify you. Depending on the store, this can take from a few hours to several days. At that point, the amount will be viewable in Cash Back Balance.

Nothing in Palo Alto even
SF Bay Area == bayside San Mateo country (no Pacific coast) + 1 single restaurant in SF, nothing in the other ~10 counties? They need to pump these numbers up.
I didn’t even realize curbside had been bought by rakuten, but I see that happened in 2018.
Nothing in the East Bay and only seeing one in SF (Hinodeya Ramen Bar). Must be rolling out now…
Looks like most restaurants are near the Rakuten San mateo officee
Frankly, I haven’t received a single penny in cashback since eBates was acquired by Rakuten even though my shopping pattern was exactly the same.
Finally. This makes sense that restaurants would offer discounts now that they are closed.
Unfortunately, only 1 available restaurant in SF, none in East Bay, all the available restaurants are in San Mateo area, and most of them are Japanese restaurants
too few restaurants.
Can you note that the participating restaurants are only on the Peninsula of the bay Area? Specific cities – Menlo Park, Redwood City, Foster City, Palo Alto, San Francisco. They don’t have anything for like half of the bay area.
