I disagree with Gary saying that he’s surprised they can afford to lose even one customer, Uber needs to be creating a safe working environment for their drivers and rules like these help enforce this. I personally don’t think Uber is doing enough on the driver side of things at the moment and that’s causing better quality drivers to leave – not a big issue currently but if it continues it could be.

I was chatting up with an uber driver
Among others he told me that a week ago a couple had sex in the back seat
When they arrived he asked jokingly if they will give him $20
They asked what for?
He said for the hotel room…
They laughed and gave him $30!
I had an interesting convo with an Uber driver. He views a passenger throwing up as a profitable enterprise. He keeps his seats coated in cheap plastic. All he has to do is snap a picture of the offense and the rider is assessed a large cleaning fee. He just takes his cheap plastic out, throws it away and pockets the profit.
Realistically they could be profitable at this stage, but they want to push for growth instead. I think it’s definitely less of an issue with Uber that other tech companies that don’t have a monetization plan.
