It will be interesting to see if the casino merry go round is going to be valuable in 2025, given that so many casinos are cracking down on those type of status matches that provide “hard” benefits. They are happy to give extra points on each dollar wagered, or free parking, but giving free meals or free cruises on just a status match is getting less and less common.

I’m not digital savvy or coupon savvy. But I’m trying to understand.

When I log into my Kroger account and go to the digital coupon page, I see 743 available coupons.

This app will “clip” all those coupons for me automatically. Is that what it does?

It’ll clip the first 200, as Kroger has a 200 clipped coupon limit — but that’s what it does, yes!

Then it doesn’t seem to be very useful.

There is no way of knowing the coupons I actually want are in those 200! I will miss out.

I have previously commented on how crappy Klook is in a recent post.
However, I just don’t get it why didn’t he file a dispute with Amex since this was clearly a “bait and switch” by Klook instead of going through all the hassles of contacting various customer service agents.

I used Klook successfully to book a ticket at an attraction in Japan but there’s no way in hell I’d use an OTA to book something as simple as a domestic airline ticket, even with a significant financial incentive.

Is there any downside to the clip app? Is it against the ToS for the stores and how do they monetize their solution? Seems interesting, but want to make sure I don’t get my account closed for $0.50.

Hey! I’m one of the founders of the clip app — happy to answer.

re: Monetizing – At the moment its just two of us building something that scratches our own itch. Long term, if it’s valuable, we’ll expand the offering to monetize — clipping AMEX Offers / Chase Offers, additional savings.

re: ToS – The app is essentially clipping the coupons that you have available to you, in your account, at each store. From a quick read of the ToS on the major players, clipping and using the coupons available to you, as intended, is totally kosher!

Where does any “major player” say that sharing account details with third party is kosher? You are logging to thousands of customer accounts from your IP address (or a small pool of IP addresses). I can’t imagine how that is kosher.

The only, minor, thing I can only think of the apps that are strict about double-dipping. I can’t remember who, but I remember losing out on a $4 off Colgate deal because I’d used a $2 Walgreens coupon and they said it was already discounted. But that was maybe three years ago, so my memory is vague. Maybe it was Coupons.com, so the point may be moot.

I imagine that downside is you are giving them access to account. Hard pass for me.
I rather find a clipper that just uses javascript to clip coupons.

This is what I use for Safeway: https://www.reddit.com/r/Frugal/comments/bi5szz/automatic_safeway_coupon_clipper/

I imagine you can do similar to pretty much any site like this.

Simple javascript, don’t have to give login to anyone. Also, guess what, I have multiple accounts.

I’m pretty sure that Kroger has a limit to how many coupons you can apply to your account. (They definitely used to but I’m not sure if they still do.) So if a new coupon appeared that you wanted, you wouldn’t be able to clip it unless you unclipped another one. You’d also have to check to make sure the ones you want are clipped if the clipper app reached the limit and couldn’t attach all of them

NDrew (Builder of The Clip Club here) that’s correct! Kroger limits to ~200 coupons. The app automatically clips the top 200 in the order presented to you by Kroger. Users are able to go into the Kroger app and unclip anything that’s been auto-clipped to select their own and the system will respect that!

You store login with clip app, which means they have access to your saved payment method. I’ve thought about building similar product. But the privacy concern is what’s stopping me.

Can someone explain to me what is the difference between Economy and Saver/Basic Economy?

yvrite

Usually involves no choice of seat before check-in/no carry-on luggage/limited or no miles/some combination thereof.

Typically basic economy doesn’t give you a carry on and there’s no way to choose a seat or change your reservation. It varies somewhat from airline to airline.

Still a few minor bugs but Clip Club coupon clipper saved us close to $8 on a recent visit to Safeway. In fact, P2 wasn’t even aware I’d set it up. It would be great to have an email/form to submit bugs.

Thanks for linking to my Klook post. Hopefully it helps prevent someone else from accidentally booking Saver / Basic Economy tickets. Klook customer service is pretty worthless for flights.
