- I’ve Lost My Credit Card Affiliate Links (And I’m Perfectly Fine With It) by The Lazy Traveler’s Handbook. One of the big reasons we got rid of credit card affiliate links is due to wanting final editorial control. Most of the time it’s fine, but there are certain topics they won’t allow you to discuss (at least there was when we had links).
- A researcher studied a year of public Venmo transactions. Here’s what she learned by CNN. Really think the default setting should be private.

You guys make most of your money from Amazon Associates.. so getting rid of the credit card affiliate links is a no brainer.
Lol, I love how you have no idea the breakdown of how we make money and make this comment. Credit card and bank account affiliate links would dwarf the amount we make from Amazon.

Thanks for making me laugh today!
This is my headcannon for Will’s life now.

“You can set the privacy setting on an individual payment or purchase basis. Don’t want to change the privacy setting every time you make a payment? You can change your default privacy setting so that the setting for all future payments is automatically set to your preference.”
I have mine set to always be private.
“Most of the time it’s fine, but there are certain topics they won’t allow you to discuss (at least there was when we had links).”
Can you expand on this, would be interested to hear what specific things they would not allow you to cover/talk about.
It’s definitely changed since we had links. Things like churning, reconsideration numbers and stuff weren’t allowed from memory but I see some of those types of posts from other blogs with affiliates so I guess the list of banned topics has changed
Makes sense. Thx for the color
On Venmo: I only use Venmo for bank account debits so I only added one friend. Very scary how I can track a lot of his life just by opening venmo and seeing his payments/receipts.
