10% increase in award cost is not the end of the world. Of course, this could just be the first increase of many, but it points out the fallacy of assuming that ALL devaluations are always “terrible”; some are just “not so great”, but not necessarily “terrible”.
And it also points out the fallacy of cashing out miles/points at poor value just because you fear a devaluation. It takes a certain amount of devaluation to make the miles/points so “useless” that you want to use them up any way you can, even it’s a poor value. The word “devaluation” by itself does not spell out the degree of devaluation, and it includes tiny devaluations as well as big ones.
I never liked Hertz much anyway. There are always cheaper options.
Unless you are under 25 that is. Hertz is often the cheapest option by far for under 25 with AAA membership.
They didn’t have cars when I was 25.
Did they rent horses?
Silvercar has always been far cheaper for me, especially with the Visa infinite code. Also less BS fees in general and much better cars.
I like Silvercar as well but even with the Visa Infinite code, it’s often still more expensive. I do go with Silvercar if it’s close.
