I’m not sure how they can enforce that Macbook ban. I doubt they inspect laptops before getting on the plane. Is the TSA supposed to be looking for the banned models?

I have a model that is within the time frame but not affected per Apple. I haven’t had to remove it from my bag through security so not sure how they’d enforce it.

GCM at least said all the right things in their statement (unlike TPM where it was clearly time to bail). As someone mentioned in the article comments, they are likely getting hit with fraud/CC processing issues and they can’t afford to keep stocking up on GCs if they can’t offload them. I’ve never done business with them but I’d be less worried about this one — seems like a proactive move to specifically avoid the TPM situation. The real question is when they come back will it be BAU or will they have made strict changes because of whatever this issue is? Even if they do shutdown, I’d guess it’ll be orderly and everyone will get paid out

Always easier to be less worried when you aren’t actually doing any business with them.

“Flight risk” made me do a double take as it is normally used to refer to defendants who flee after posting bail. Never thought I would see ownership of Macbook Pros marking one as a flight risk. LMAO.

I also noticed Card Kangaroo is not currently buying gift cards.

From their website (https://www.cardkangaroo.com/sell-gift-cards-OFF):

> CURRENTLY WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING GIFT CARDS WHILE WE ARE MAKE INTERNAL CHANGES WITHIN THE COMPANY. THANK YOU.

Although I think you can still buy gift cards from them.

They’ve been showing that message for probably close to a month now. I reach out about a month back asking for an update as to if/when they’d be buying gift cards again. I never received a response, so it doesn’t seem overly promising. Between CardKangaroo, GCM, and CardPool’s non-existent customer service there are few options left to sell to
