Came to read about the Treasury Bond DD DP. Was not disappointed! Congrats to Jane and thank you for sharing this DOC!
If you click “add account” now, you will have to print off the form, fill out your bank account info for the bank you want to add, then take it to your local bank to have them medallion stamp it.
You can add multiple accounts on the form. One of the pages you print off allows you to add 2 different bank accounts. Since i didnt want to bothered with it too often, i printed out 2 of those pages so i could add 4 bank accounts to my profile at once.
Treasury direct said it will take 2 to 3 weeks from the time you mail the form for them to add your banks to your profile. You are not allowed to email or fax it. Snail mail only!
My current local bank did not have anyone employed at that branch who was able to do it, and wanted to send me to the branch the next town over. Instead, since this is going to be a recurring thing, i called around close to me for a new bank.
All the banks are closed inside, but they were very efficient in opening my account thru the drive thru, and then medallion stamping my papers for treasury direct thru the drive thru as well.
Im not sure how many people are subscribed to this older thread, but wanted to give a heads up.
Just so I am clear the form requires only one medallion stamp from any bank ?
Or each bank you are adding will need to stamp the form ?
So in your case you added 4 accounts 4 medallion stamps from 4 different banks ?
If it’s the first case then does the bank providing the stamp necesssrily need to be one of the banking entities accounts you are adding to Treasury Direct ?
Also which bank were you successful in getting the stamp?
TIA.
yeah, just one medallion stamp for the form, no matter how many banks you add. the bank that i went to was not one of the banks on the form. the bank i was successful in adding is just a local bank in tennessee, so unless you’re in tennessee the bank i used wouldnt be available to you, but just in case you’re in tennessee, it is home federal.
i think it’s beneficial to call around to the banks closest to your house, because some of the banks i called acted super nervous about it, like that they didn’t really know how to handle it. it generally has to be done by the bank manager, so the larger banks are actually more of a hassle to deal with since the bank manager is usually so busy.
the bank i used is just a tiny local only bank, and therefore not so busy as for instance bank of america or some place like that.
when i called this local bank, and asked what i need to do to have something medallion stamped, they just said you just have to have the manager do it, and they connected me to the manager who wasn’t bothered about it at all like some of the other banks i called. i wanted to use a bank that was already very comfortable about the forms, because i wanted to be sure it was done properly, so if they acted confused on the phone, i continued to call around. i think the bank i ended up with was the fifth phone call, but they were very comfortable with it and already knowledgable about it, so it was super fast. i added more banks since then and i just call him ahead of time, and ask what time is good for me to come by, and he just signs it in the drive thru for me. i highly recommend a small local bank for this reason.
all the banks i called required you to be their customer for them to stamp it for you though. so i opened a free account at this bank, and closed my other local bank account, since i dont need 2 local banks. the bank i already had said they only had a bank manager at the main branch at the next town over, so that wasn’t going to be convenient to me at all, so i closed the account with them.
Thanks again

As you have added more is there a max number of accounts that Treasurydirect allows to add ? Or are you removing some and adding in their place ?
Yeah I am not in Tennesse so won’t be able to use the same bank you used for the stamp but it is good to know that smaller banks are more aggreable to doing the job. I think I read somewhere that the big banks are plain refusing to do it.
Well it is time to locate a small bank in NJ that will be ready to do this. May be there is a home federal bank here as well! 🙂
i’ve not personally come across a limit, however, i always delete banks after receiving the bonus, so i never have more than about 5 banks in total in the list. you are permitted to delete your own accounts, you only have to have the form to add them.
Thanks
yeah, you just leave it blank
I just signed up for a treasury account. I received an email stating difficulty verifying the information provided. Now I have to fill out a form, get it notarized and mail to a Minneapolis address to get the hold removed. So if you’re planning to use this method as a DD and do not already have an account it’s best to go through the process now even if you think you won’t need a treasury account.
Now if only you could still use a CC to buy -like before with Savings Bonds Direct ( but that ended in 2003).
whats the toy store from milesperday? Any hint is appreciated. thanks
probably babies r us. Back in the day toys r us had some similar GC loopholes so I’m guessing this one inherited the same payment system.
Another question: what exactly is he meaning by “portal points” and “all those portal spend bonusses” ?
The probably used the store GC, clicked to the online shop via a portal, and bought another round of GC using their current GC, and kept doing this in an endless cycle.
Babies r us still around? I was thinking buy buy baby
Missing the info on the treasury bonds
You have to click the link…
What link? I don’t see it.
Jane needs to update her Twitter description: “Peace, love, humanitarian, animal lover and hardcore churner”
I suspect the churning community will begin to invest heavily in treasury bonds!! much easier than walking across the street to my HR dept!! and able to hit more bonuses for my p2 who does not have her own dd!!
