Refreshed American Express Gold Card Now Live

As predicted the refreshed American Express gold card is now live. Benefits are as follows:

  • $325 annual fee ($75 increase)
  • Option of white gold card (alongside gold or rose gold)
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 4x on restaurants (limited to $50,000 per year, previously no limit)
    • 4x on grocery (limited to $25,000 per year)
    • 3x points on flights Booked directly with airlines or on amextravel.com
    •  2x points on On Prepaid Hotels and other eligible travel purchases, booked through AmexTravel.com
    • 1x points on all other purchases
  • $7 monthly Dunkin donuts credit (new)
  • $50 semi annual resy credit (new)
  • $10 monthly Uber cash credit (same as before)
  • $10 monthly GrubHub/5 Guys (previously not available on 5 guys, but available on mile bar and shake shack purchases)

How good/bad the refresh is really depends on how easily you can use the additional credits. Personally don’t find these types of cards worth keeping long term as I know I’ll forget to use the monthly credits/end up buying stuff I wouldn’t normally purchase. That being said let’s hope we get some links with no lifetime language. For existing cardholders you will get to take advantage of the new benefits without having to pay the increased annual fee until your next annual fee bills (sometimes there is an additional grace period where they keep billing the old annual fee as well).

Just found out InKind restaurants stack with the $50 Resy credit!

7/31: Dined and paid with InKind. Amex registered charge as InKind.
8/1: Email notification of Resy credit.
8/3: credit hit AMEX card listed as InKind.

Got the 20% credit back from InKind + the AMEX resy credit. Found out the restaurant is listed on both sites.

Can you obtain a Grubhub GC or 5 guys GC from the $10 monthly?

Did anyone get credit for dining in one of the restaurants under Resy’s network? I want to use it in Tokyo (found in Resy) but when I chatted with AE, they said only U.S. restaurants.

$7 Dunkin credit is ridiculous. Can’t believe these cards are turning into coupon books–and not even good ones.

Anyone get “We’re Sorry We’re unable to load this page at this time. Please try again later.” error when trying to enroll on Amex.com?

7/25 Reload $7 on Dunkin’ mobile app.
7/26 Received email saying credit was earned.
7/27 Credited $7, posted as “Amex Dunkin Credit”.

Looks like app reloads work, no need to buy in-person.

7/27 Purchased $7 Dunkin GC in store
7/29 Purchased posted, and got email saying Dunkin credit earned

So seems like both app reload (based on DPs below) and physical GC will work for the Dunkin credit (for now anyway lol)

My Dunkin $7 reload posted on the 26th. Should I wait until the end of my statement cycle to contact them, if I don’t receive my credit? I did activate the benefit on the 25th. Thank you!

Adding my confirmation. I used apple pay to load $7 in the app on July 26.

Today, on July 28, I just received an email confirming that I “earned a $7 statement credit after using the enrolled American Express Gold Card to make an eligible Dunkin’ purchase”.

Also confirming “4x at Global Restaurants”.
