In March, 2018 IHG purchased a 51% share of Regent Hotels. IHG has now announced that Regent Hotels will be joining IHG rewards on February 1st, 2019. Regent hotels currently has hotels in the following cities:
- Beijing
- Berlin
- Chongqing
- Porto Montenegro
- Singapore
- Taipei
They wanted to add a property to Jakarta in 2018, but that obviously didn’t happen. Other previously planned additions are:Â Harbin in 2019 and Phu Quoc in 2020. IHG had previously mentioned they wanted to grow this brand to over 40 properties in total. It’ll be interesting to see how these properties are priced, a lot of people will still have an unrestricted IHG free night certificate so these properties could be a good use for that.
So will we be able to use our free night certificate at these (my last unlimited one)? Heading to Berlin in June and that Regent looks really nice. If not, how many points will it likely be, 60k?
55k
Would be nice if some of them start in the up to 40k categories before they are massively devalued next year as is IHGs yearly plan.
Can’t see any of them being in the 40k
Oh! Well then they’ll be 70k and we can expect 80k point categories next year 😅
2019?
Ya, let me fix
