- Open a new personal LifeGreen Preferred Checking account by May 1, 2025
- Enroll in Online Banking4 within 90 days of opening your account.

The Fine Print

- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
LifeGreen Preferred Checking has a $18 monthly fee. This is waived if you do any of the following:
- Avoid the monthly checking account fee by doing one of the following:
Maintain a $5,000 average monthly statement balance in your LifeGreen Preferred Checking account. OR - Have $25,000 in combined minimum deposit balances from all your Regions checking, savings, money markets, CDs and IRAs. OR
- Have $25,000 in combined minimum outstanding loan balances from your Regions personal installment loans, lines of credit, equity lines of credit, equity loans, direct loans and credit cards in good standing. OR
- Have certain qualifying first-lien home mortgage loans in good standing
Early Account Termination Fee
There is an early account closure fee of $25 if you close your account within 180 days of account opening.
Referral Bonus $50
There is also a referral bonus you can receive in addition to this $200 bonus (bringing the total to $250). This has worked in the past, but it is no guarantee to work this time around. Do not share your referrals in the comments below, they can be found and shared here.
Our Verdict
This is better than the standard $300 bonus that is available, downside is that it requires an account that is more difficult to keep fee free. If you’ve got the $5,000 to keep this fee free most people will prefer the extra $100 (although it’s borderline compared to just keeping that in a 5% account). We will add this to our list of the best checking bonuses.

OOF. I registered earlier, and even the confirmation email says expired 5/1 as this post describes. I clicked the link, and no luck. I looked into the fine print T&C and it says expires 4/1…..
DEAD
I just changed to eAccess checking to avoid the $25 early closing fee. I will do 10 debit transactions a month to avoid monthly fees until the account is open for 180 days and then close the account.
I was considering just paying the $25 to start the clock for a future bonus since the terms usually exclude those with an account after a certain date. Any thoughts on this?
$25 is a small price to pay imo
I opened my account March 9. I transferred $1000.01 from E*Trade on 3/24. Today my Offer Tracker shows all requirements completed and $400 bonus expected by May 24. I will withdraw $980 next week, because I believe there is good chance that Regions won’t charge me the $18 fee until after I receive the bonus. Once I receive the bonus, I will close the account and leave $25 in for the early termination fee.
Where do you see the offer tracker. I haven’t completed my transfer yet. There is a section in the app called regions offers and there is no offer on all 3 tabs. Is that the right place?

It makes more sense to close the account early and eat the $25 fee instead of handing them $18 a month for 180 days right? Might put me on the no account approval list is what I’m worried about.
Opened account – 1/24
Capital one push $5,001 – 1/30
$400 posted – 3/21
Is this one per household?
If I downregulate the preferred account to regular checking after I get the bonus (then I do not have to maintain the $5000 monthly balance), will I still be charged an early termination fee? And does it affect the referring bonuses that are already in the process?
Interested in this too. Looking to avoid the 5k minimum now that I got bonus.
any update to this?
Yes, you still need to pay the termination fee. I just downgraded mine via live chat. She said it will take one business day to complete the request.
How much was the fee?
Push from Fidelity coded as FID BKG SVC LLC MONEYLINE
Push from Chase coded as RTP CREDIT FROM
Any points on the Chase code? I still see DP as Chase working. Will watch the tracker, as the 100 already coded in tracker.
What tracker? Is it under regions offers in the app??
Account opened – 1/17
ACH transfer $5000 – 1/27
