Our Verdict
I’d recommend reading my review of Rocketmiles before making any bookings and checking other online travel agencies to compare prices. This promotion can be a good deal, but it’s always important to check. I’m hesitant to earn any more Southwest miles with the decision to move away from a fixed value point redemption system, so I’m going to pass on this one. I also think I’d get better value out of booking with hotels.com (~17% cash back and rates usually cheaper).
Rocketmiles have offered this bonus before, but it did require you to be a Southwest credit card holder. It looks like this requirement has been eliminated. These miles should count towards the Southwest companion pass according to Too Nashty only the regular miles will count, the bonus miles will not count.
If you’re not interested in Southwest points, you can also earn a 3,000 mile bonus for any of the other reward currencies Rocketmiles offers. For existing customers there is also a 500 mile bonus for Fat Tuesday (valid until the 20th).
There are two other hotel booking websites that offer airline miles for hotel bookings: Kaligo & PointsHound. You can read my comparison of the three by clicking here.

Spewing bullshit again with no verification done on your part. What has this blog become?
No these bonus points will NOT count for the companion pass HOWEVER the normal points earned from the booking WILL. We’ve learned this time and again bonus points do not count with SW. Didn’t we just go through this with 1800Flowers?
What if someone were to mattress run based on this blog post? Would you feel remorse when the points earned didn’t count?
Except in the past bonus miles from RM have counted towards the companion pass, as they have with 1800 flowers. That change was relatively new with 1800 flowers and they updated the terms & conditions to reflect that. I also used language which was vague because I wasn’t 100% sure it would count (These miles SHOULD count towards the Southwest companion pass). You could have easily just say, “just letting you know the bonus miles will not count towards the pass but the regular miles will”.
Either way I’ve updated the post. Give me a break, everybody makes mistakes and I always acknowledge and correct mine.
Perhaps but there have been several occasions now where I’ve seen blatant errors in posts you’ve written, so here’s me calling you out. I believe a little legwork done on your behalf where research is done before blogging would go a long way. Whether or not you used vague language (and I’m not sure it was all that vague) is beside the point and doesn’t remove liability.
Just tighten things up if you want people to be able to rely on you and respect what you’ve written…. or not and become one of the countless generic and frontal lobe damaging Boarding Area blogs.
Feel free to email me if you’d like to discuss further.
I did research the article before I posted and saw reports of it counting towards the CP, I’m not going to be right about things 100% of the time unfortunately and I don’t believe anybody is. I’ll make more of an effort to triple fact check things like that in the future to avoid any issues. As always if you or any other reader notice any errors, just let me know and I’ll be sure to fix them as soon as I spot them.
