[Discontinued] U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card To Be Discontinued Within Next Week

Update 11/11/24: Card has been discontinued and no longer accepting new applications.

Update 11/10/24: Few people in the comments and on reddit have stated they spoke to front line reps and were told a 11/11 date for when the card will be pulled. As always this is only a rumor, but something to consider if you want to take advantage of this card.

According to a rumor shared by YouTuber Stan The Credit Frog, the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve card will be discontinued within the next week. It’s possible this will coincide with the launch of the U.S. Bank Smartly card.  Previously the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve card stopped accepting applications for a few months before returning. I have no idea how reliable this rumor is at all.

Applied on 11/10 final day, received a letter on 11/20 regarding ID verification. A few calls and a lot of hold time and finally got a live person on the line on 11/21: verified some basic contact info and then informed that my application would now finally be sent to credit underwriting for review. Welcome email and card showed up online Sun 11/24, so it was probably just the ID verification holding up the process. 4/12 and 13/24, multiple US Bank cardholder and sometimes deposit account holder.

Applied on 11/10, was rejected. Got the letter with the reasons and decided to pull my CR (can’t remember if it was Experian or Equifax – whichever the letter said). I didn’t agree with the reasons so called USB and explained why the letter was wrong. They took everything down and filed a reconsideration and was approved today.

The reasons were too many cards applied for in last three months but there was actually only one, and too high monthly payments but the monthly payments on the CR were actually low (totaled about $250).

I’m sure the near perfect credit score didn’t hurt.

So if you were rejected, HUCA.

DP: Lobbed in two applications at the 11th hour on Nov 10 for P1 and P2, both went pending, P1 just got email this morning on 11/14 that it was approved! P1 is 1/6 and 6/24 (may be 5/24 as one card was approved on 11/09/22), has personal checking, business checking and business CC, no personal CC.

A similar DP for myself – I applied over the weekend on 11/9 and was approved overnight. Oddly my credit wasn’t pulled until Monday but that happened to me one other time when I submitted a USB app on a weekend. I was 1/6 and 3/24 for new accounts at the time of my application, and 7/24 for inquiries (USB pulls Experian in my state for personal cards). I had hesitated applying for a USB personal card due to the number of inquiries on my EX report and missed out on the pre-nerfed version of the Altitude Connect as a result, but I’m glad I was able to get this one before its demise.

My annual fee is about to post soon, thinking about closing it. Can I use the travel/dining credit within 30 days after annual fee posted and request close and refund annual fee?

Would recommend calling for a customer appreciation bonus aka retention offer because assuming they give you 5-10k points and you use that credit you can defer closing by at least a year at no cost and get 4.5% back and priority pass for another year.

Be careful Henry, if you do that, they may ban you and close your account for abusing their benefits. U.S. Bank also has a RAT team like Amex Henry

Given you could apply until 11/10, it’s likely that the card will be around at least for the next 12 months, but you never know.

Probably I might be the last person to have been approved for the card. Got approved on 11/10/2024 @ 11.59 PM 🙂

Applied on 11/10 and it went pending. Was pleasantly surprised on 11/11 when I was approved on the day it was discontinued for a $14,000 limit
