It doesn’t state what qualifying gift card purchases are unfortunately. 4x points is worth 10% back on groceries so could be a great deal for some.

In addition to the overall 4x, lots of specific gift cards with 4x – 10x points that can stack with this. These do show up under Gift Cards. For example 10x on Bass Pros or Vudu.
Careful with Safeway gift cards, my parents bought some gift cards there that were tampered with and had zero funds when they went to redeem. When they pulled off the sticker someone had scratched off the code as well.
Just happened to me with footlocker. I bought several to flip and first the manager had trouble even activating all of them. She even went into their supply inside the gift card display cabinet to get some from the shrieked wrapped package. All five activated. When I got home one had the last two PIN numbers scratched off the card under the gray scratch off material. Fortunately, the store gave me my money back for the one gift card. They pulled all of the foot locker gift cards from that store.
Zillions 25$ printout coupon for 150$ gift purchase is going on until 12/10 in Southern California Vons. Amazon, Zillions, Homedepot all gave 4x points.
So, does Amazon or anything else not Panera like, still work for anybody ? Thanks.

My location has sign up that states gift cards cannot be used to buy gift cards. It’s been there for years, there was a time it could be done, wistful memories.

It won’t work at self checkout. Try normal checkout. It used to work. Had not tried it for a few months.
I’ve never had a problem using the QR code based Safeway eGCs to buy third party gift cards, but I’ve always had regular groceries involved, as well. This is accurate info as of within the past week.

Interesting. My experience on Sat 12/7/24 at Safeway in the Denver area:
10x points for clipped Panera Bread >= $25 gift card worked. (received 250 points)
Did not stack with another clipped deal “spend $40 and receive 2 reward points”. No small print regarding 3rd party gift cards excluded but I’m not surprised this did not work.
Not crying because Safeway’s reward program for free stuff and $x off of your next shopping trip has seriously devalued in Q4 2024. Fewer good items and positive redemption unlike “Use 500 points for free 24 count Signature Select trash bags!”
I have Jewel-Osco near me, prices are normally higher than elsewhere but since they’re the closest, I find that I do have to go there a couple times per month. Pretty much stick to the hot JFU items most of the time. I did take advantage of their Fresh Pass deal this year, $49 that gives $5 credit per month. An added bonus for me is that points don’t expire so I can let them build to get the highest $ off.
That’s good feedback. Not knowing about the $5 credit / month I have to look into that. Grocery prices are even hitting the grand master frugalists like me (yesterday 1 green pepper = $1.89 WTF no deal). Celia is right the targeted J4U are usually pretty good at Safeway or King Soopers (Kroger)
But I’m disappointed the 8 piece chicken from the deli was 4 points, than 5, now suddenly gone in my redemption.
It was a no brainer for the Fresh Pass deal for me. Not sure if it’s store brand wide, expires 12/10 for me. If your location has Starbucks and you’re a fan, even better. They offer a monthly $2 grande handcraft each month too.
If I avoid shopping at Safeway, they give me targeted offers for $15 off 75 and free delivery. Also, an extra $5 off $50 coupon. I bet I wouldn’t get those if I had Fresh Pass. It’s an evil trap!

That doesn’t happen with Jewel. Have never gotten those type of coupons no matter how little I shop.
The last few times I’ve attempted to get the 10x points promo for various targeted GCs, it hasn’t come to fruition at checkout and I’ve had to waste way too much time dealing with phone reps to get credited. Similar experience with recent Fry’s GC promos. It’s gotten to the point where I won’t even bother with these anymore.
Interesting, I don’t think I’ve had an issue with the 10x promos (are you clipping the offer and getting the exact cards being offered?)
Are you clipping in store and then buying with your number? I’ve found that doesn’t work well. I usually clip long before I go.
Yes, the offers are clipped before checkout, but only when I first get to the store. I used to have an issue with the very last offer I clipped not taking at the checkout regardless of what the deal was, such that I clipped any random coupon last that I knew I wouldn’t be utilizing so I wouldn’t have that problem anymore.
