Our Verdict

We often see various deals and stacks, this is an easy way to get membership for $15. I’m seeing 50SB per $1 on Swagbucks for Sam’s Club membership; hopefully that stacks for an additional $7.50 discount on this membership.

Right now there’s a $20 Club Membership offer ($30 off the $50 base cost) that I’ll be taking advantage of before it expires on Jan 10. Any DoC-er want to post a referral link/code here that I can use to support this community?

Sam’s Club is offering promos for upgrading to plus, as well as for first time online order.

https://www.samsclub.com/content/more-offers?mid=2024_mem_ros&xid=hdr:promo

Right now for October, it is Upgrade to Plus, get $10 Sam’s Cash after you make a purchase of $20 or more.

I did this for the Sept promo variant: Upgrade to Plus, get $20 Sam’s Cash after you make a purchase of $40 or more. Was break even for me, since the upgrade fee is adjusted pro rata to the membership year renewal timeline. Upgraded on Sept 25th, made online shipping purchase later the same day on Sept 25th, got $20 in Sam’s Cash on Oct 11th (instantly payable after issued, no pending wait time).

I also got $10 in Sam’s Cash (for first time online order, of $50 or more) on Oct 10th, which probably correspond to my Sept 15th online Curbside Pickup order, or be double from the Sept 25th online shipping order.

Sam’s Club Membership is also available via referral link for $15 until Sept 27th. The referrer gets $10 in Sam’s Cash™.

Anyone know of a workaround to get these deals for lower Sam’s Club membership as a current Sam’s Club member with a Sam’s Club mastercard?

Sign a P2 up for a “new account” using this promo

Wouldn’t we then be paying for 2 memberships, P1 at fully price and P2 at a discounted rate? Sam’s Club Mastercards are tied to the membership accounts, which I want to keep the credit cards.

Using a different email address has worked in the past for no downtime between memberships…

DP:

I clicked through Swagbucks last night (9/10) and bought the $15 membership through Sams that way. It was a different promo code (in the URL) compared to the one linked here but it worked the same way. $15 for the membership and the Swagbucks went pending this morning (9/11) for 750 points ($7.50 worth of points).

I haven’t had an active Sams membership for about 9-10 months but the system still recognized that I used to have a membership. I switched out the phone number to a different number for signup and used the [email protected] trick (I just increment the part after the plus for the year of signup to keep things straight!). It worked to create the new membership for $15

Then after the new membership acct was created I switched back to my main ph number in my profile. Kind of looks like you could but a BS number in there since I don’t think they force you to verify your ph number (can use email to verify).

Did Sam text you a confirmation code? I’m curious if we could put a bogus phone number during signup.

they gave me the option to do email verification I am pretty sure. When I switched to my new (real) phone number, I did have to verify that it’s a legit ph number using a code they text to me.

Can we get a deal like this, but for Costco?

Costco actually makes money on memberships, so it’s pretty unlikely

Go get a membership in Mexico, it’s less than half the price and the membership works in the USA

Do you have to provide a Mexico address?

No.
But to avoid any suspicion, on my first shopping trip I wore a sombrero and only bought salsa and some modelo beers…

No brainer to do it for $15. In my area they are equal to Costco and a lot more user friendly with “scan and go” Quality is good and pricing is good. If you are close to store, the $5 rotisserie chickens and gas are worth the membership. I am a plus member and will probably keep it even with the new shipping requirements.

scan n go is 1000% superior to waiting in a Costco line for 20-30 minutes. I don’t even have to stop my shopping cart, just swipe on the app to finalize the payment.

The Scan and Go is a complete game changer vs. waiting in line for 20 minutes.

I use SCO at Costco. Even if there’s a line, it still takes just a couple minutes. I go to Sams too but Costco has better quality on some products for me.

Last place on earth that doesn’t accept tap to pay but for the gas, tire center, car oil prices, free samples, $2/slice mid tier kids love it pizza and not dealing with the costco crowds $14- $15 a year is worth it

Honest question, why is tap to pay vs swipe important to anyone? You have a card in hand, you either swipe or tap, I dont see much difference. Am I missing anything? I find cards by phone fiddly and unreliable (data connection required). Do people really like taping their phone that much?

It’s useful if you have your P2’s card in your phone so you can both work on a minimum spend at the same time. Also, my daughter doesn’t even know where her debit card is, so she uses tap to pay on her phone all the time. I don’t think data connection is required for tap to pay from phone.

Many reasons. Data connection not required. Works even when device is dead. More convenient especially with a smart watch. Tap only gives the store a token so privacy is ensured. Token means no cc #, name, etc is shared with the store so security is ensured since they never get that data and can’t be used in a breach or leak.

These are good reasons! I was thinking it did need data connection but that is good news. Point taken on the privacy concerns.

I hear you…for me and my family after using it we likely won’t prefer to ever use any other method. It takes a fraction of the time to pay AND the actual card isn’t even required if you have digital wallet on your phone. Its also currently the most secure way to pay. I still carry cards but i’m lightly annoyed if I have to insert a chip anywhere and I avoid all swiping due to the uptick in skimming in my state
