Our Verdict
Don’t forget to go through a portal for a further 10%/10x back. I don’t think you’ll be able to stack this with the Acorns deal for $20 back as you need to purchase this through Groupon and it doesn’t work on renewals so probably not as good as the previous deal. That being said readers were asking for a Sam’s Club membership deal due to the American Express offer for $15 back when spending $50+.
what’s the best deal for renewals ?
Deal is expired
It is only showing up with $10 eGift Card now. No mentioning of $15 and $18 in food item. Is it dead?
scroll down and other things are mentioned
This type of deal comes around 2 – 3X per year. It always states for new members only or those that have not had a membership in the past 6 months – year. My wife and I alternate who the primary member is every year and put each other as the complimentary member. In effect a couple can always have a nearly free Sam’s Club membership. Last time I was able to stack the UNiDAYS join Sam’s Club and get $15 Sam’s Club gift card.
So I can do it as I am not the primary Sam’s Club holder but am on my wife’s active account?
How did you initiate the “new” membership?
We no longer have a same club store (closed this year). But the membership is still valuable because I have 8 amex offered still to redeem and Sam’s club gift card work at Wal-Mart. Can I activate my membership online? No store to go to to get a picture taken?
I’m curious how this would stack with the Amex offer because this is a Groupon deal not a Sam’s Club deal. Groupon would be the payee. Please let me know if I’m missing something.
It wouldn’t stack, it’s more you need a Sam’s Club membership to really take advantage of that offer.
Part of the terms in the Groupon offer “Your $15 eGift Card will be delivered approximately 7 business days after your first purchase of $15 or more on SamsClub.com. Your first SamsClub.com purchase must be made within 30 days of activating your membership and is invalid after October 10, 2018.”
So…since the Amex offer is “Spend $30 or more, get $10 back at samsclub.com” After activating your Groupon offer, you make a $30+ purchase online before your Amex offer goes away. Amex will give you your $10 credit and Sam’s Club will send you your $15 gift card.
Anyone know if this will work on a business membership?
On a more serious note, why is Sam’s Club doing this? Is it really that desperate for membership signups?
The $15 eGift on SamsClub.com has additional requirements:
Please allow 5-7 days for delivery of the $10 eGift Card after activating your new membership. Your $15 eGift Card will be delivered approximately 7 business days after your first purchase of $15 or more on SamsClub.com. Your first SamsClub.com purchase must be made within 30 days of activating your membership and is invalid after October 10, 2018. Both eGift Cards will be delivered to the same email address used to activate your membership.
I wouldn’t count on getting any of the food from this promo. Last time I tried the free pizza/soda/cookies combo, they had no idea how to enter it. Three associates came over and nobody had a clue. Sams club clearly does not train the staff regarding these promos.
Just walk out without paying. Usually gets a manager real quick
I had encountered a similar problem last time. Comparing to Costco, people at Sam’s are very poorly trained. But again they’re basically Walmart employees so we shouldn’t expect too much from them.
I know the feeling. Last time I went for a membership, the people at the desk didn’t process the code for my offer and manually processed the gift card. They claimed I would get coupons for the items linked to my account. (if no one uses the code, you won’t get the offers linked to that code) Online customer service ended up manually sending me a gift card in place of the food. I was told at the time, that when you rejoin at a different level than when you left it is not as simple for them. Thinking of signing up again…it would be a different tier from when I left…hope to get lucky again…
