Sam’s Club via Groupon: Join For $30 & Get $40 Giftcard

The Offer

Direct link to offer (our affiliate link)

  • Groupon is selling a Sam’s Club membership for $30. It also includes:
    • Free Member’s Mark Pie
    • $40 eGift Card after using Scan & Go for the first time
      • Must spend $40+ pre-tax
      • Must use Scan & Go within first 60 days of membership

Our Verdict

Probably not as good as the Uber deal as it can’t be stacked with other offers as it’s through Groupon.

Did anyone purchase this recently? I bought about a week ago, on the Groupon webpage it says “Free promotional items will automatically load to your membership card as Instant Savings within 72 hours of activating your membership. The final price of items will be reduced to no cost at final checkout.”. But I’m not seeing that anywhere in my account.

Also, it says “$40 eGift Card after using Scan & Go for the first time”, not seeing this offer in the Sam’s site. Would it really payout?

Sam’s has still been doing the $45 when you buy a membership.

It’s better to do that and try to match with a portal / Cashback offer.

Note: Both offers require you to be a new member. Myself, Spouse, and Mother rotate getting memberships. We never get add comp card and use the app to show membership.

If I registered as a new member last year, can I do this deal again?

Paypal has a $10 off on $50 groupon deal to sweeten the deal.

Some cb portals have decent rates for Groupon that can stack on this deal.

I used this offer last year, but never got those cards. Contacted customer service of both Groupon and Sams but they just blame each other and never did anything for me.

Did you double-check your spam folder? Mine came with a subject of “Walmart sent you a gift!” from “Walmart <[email protected]>” and I would’ve assumed they were a scam had I not been expecting them.

Yes I regularly check my spam and paid attention to these walmart related messages, but I still don’t see any.

I am currently traveling, do they ship any items to home address or do I just go to the club after I purchase and get my membership card?

I just use their app as a membership card. You can pick a physical one up at the membership desk if you want.

Shipping is usually not free unless you’re a plus member, which costs an extra $55 a year, but sometimes they have offers on plus membership, and the cost also gets prorated based on your remaining membership, so sometimes I end up grabbing it toward the end of my membership.

If I already have a Sam’s Club membership that expires soon can I get/make a new membership/online account with a different email or does it require is a different address too?

In our house we have been able to get free memberships and deals every year at renewal time rotating through the family members names, emails, and their phone number – while all of use the same physical address for the accounts. So, not sure if it’s the different name, email or phone number but it has been working for us.

For past offers, using a different email address has been enough for me. I only have one mail address (and one name) and it’s never been a problem.

Make sure to turn off auto-renew as soon as possible, as in past years, at about 6 months, I’ve gotten offers of a gift card for trying one of their services (pick-up, scan-n-go, etc) or enabling auto-renew. I just turned it back off once they sent me the gift card.

Where does it specify “$40 eGift Card after using Scan & Go for the first time”? Don’t see it in Groupon.

This actually might work better than the uber deal for those who dont eat out/take uber – $10 in free groceries + whatever the pie is basically.
