- Securityplus Federal Credit Union is offering an 11-month CD with a rate of 6.00% APY. Max $50,000 balance. You can open an account by calling the credit union at 410-281-6200.
- They also offer a 23-month CD with a rate of 4.85% APY.
- There’s also a
$50$100 (for each) Amazon gift card bonus for referring a friend. Feel free to leave your referral link in the comments below. - The credit union also allows $2,000 in credit card funding on the account.
You can join Securityplus FCU by being a member of ACC which costs $8 or $15 for lifetime (if you aren’t already a member).
Our Verdict
The top rates on CDs are currently around 5%, and this is a nice bump at 6%. Still, there’s a $50k limit here and a bit more hassle with the call-in and join fee, so I’m sure a lot of people will give this one a miss. If you can get $50 Amazon gift card for joining that sweetens the pot.
Offer History:
- Update 11/9/23: Deal is back and referral bonus has been increased from $50 to $100. Keep in mind this is for new money only.
June 11th – Haven’t been able to login for quite some time (same error on the mobile app for both P1 & P2). Just noticed they charged a $5 “inactive account fee” April 1st 2025.
Weirdly enough my Pocketsmith still syncs daily with them.
Will be pulling my $1.01 out of P1/P2 account now.
It was all worth it for the $900 combined Amazon rewards! 🙂
Today I received the following email regarding the end of the referral program on June 15th:
“This email is informing you about the discontinuation of the SecurityPlus referral program. You can still refer friends and earn rewards, but please note the following important dates:
Just had a “Relationship Review” call from Securityplus & said they had important information about my account. Phone number was 410-635-5154.
Seemed almost like phishing, because an operator calls you (mine had an Indian accent), then they transfer the call to a Relationship Manager. Rep knew I was a member since 2019, but asked if I was using Securityplus as my primary bank, which with my $1 balance, should know better. Guess salespeople don’t get account access. or it was a good fake. Didn’t ask for my account info, sensitive info, etc, so I assume it was not.
Anyway, it was a huge sales pitch for their other products, loans (5.9% APY auto), whole life & accident insurance programs. Next time I will know to ask them to remove me from their list.
Rep mentioned their child/youth savings account has higher rates “that adults cannot beat”, and I looked it up, and it’s not. It’s the same 0.10%. When I pointed it out, said they must have changed it and the rate was previously 2.0% (like that would be something to brag about). Always great when the customer knows more than the “
banker” salesperson. They called me about a month back and left similar message. I just ignored it, and they haven’t bothered me since that 😆.
FYI looks like they have a rate special going on right now of 4.25% for 3 month, 6 month, and 1 year CDs. Good rates.

“When your friend opens a valid checking account online, enrolls in Digital Banking, and sets up a qualifying direct deposit within 60 days, we’ll send you both a $50 Amazon Gift Card!”
Any recent data from Security Plus? Is it 2k in CC funding or is it still $500?
username checks out.
I just opened checking, it was $105 for share savings and $300 for checking. So even worse, cool cool cool

Apologies nevermind – looks like they’re allowed in this one. Was confused since you all deleted one in the comments below.
Chex pull?
Yes
Does Security Plus still allow 2k CC funding for their checking account?
I heard from others that SecurityPlus has reduced the CC funding amount. I guess
CH below confirmed it.
Looks like cc funding is down to $500 but i can’t get BoA biz to work. Is there CC funding down completely?
They told you it’s $500?
$500 is the limit displayed when I tried to fund it. Didn’t manage to fund even $500 anyways because my BoA biz card keeps getting rejected. Wondering if the error was specific to the card or all cards in general
My Citi card is also rejected.
Thank you for informing us. Can you still fund CDs and other accounts with a CC?
Funding a CD with credit card failed today.
anyone received their gift card from referral recently?
Received mine today.
Did anyone get their Amazon gift card from the referral? It’s been 90 days and I still haven’t gotten mine
