Our Verdict
The top rates on CDs are currently around 5%, and this is a nice bump at 6%. Still, there’s a $50k limit here and a bit more hassle with the call-in and join fee, so I’m sure a lot of people will give this one a miss. If you can get $50 Amazon gift card for joining that sweetens the pot.

Sec+ is still accepting cc; I just tried.
However, I initially tried to open with more than $2k, so it wasn’t offered as an option. But the verbiage still said cc are accepted for up to $2k. and when i changed my opening $ to $2k (or less), it let me put in a cc. But it apparently can’t be partially funded with a cc, at least on line.
Also, no AmEx, at least not for me.

Applied on 12/16/2024, cc funding $2k max, funded $1k to share, $1k to checking with Chase Sapphire Preferred, charge and application went pending…app denied 12/17 saying can’t verify identity.
Waited a couple of days for the charge to fall off of card to try applying again. Today 12/20 during application $2k cc funding is no longer available, lowered to $5-$105 for share savings and max $300 for Xceptional Checking. I withdrew application in case they change it back.
cc funding was still down on 12/31 when I tried.
