Our Verdict
Normally I don’t post bonuses that are only available to select employee groups but to be honest I finished writing this post before I realized that. Hopefully useful to some readers.

Do they check if you’re related to someone in the application if you say you are
Application pending manual review.
I’m honestly not optimistic. I did get a membership to the Collin County Genealogical Society, so I should qualify according to the letter of the offer, but I’m definitely not qualified in the spirit of the offer (OOS applicant).
They asked what I think were some identity verification questions about balances on some of my loans at other CUs, so it looks like a hard pull was done. Not sure yet which agency, but I don’t think it was Experian as I didn’t get an alert from them.
Currently about 10/3 for new checking accounts between Chex and EWS.
I’ll update when member services reaches out to me but I have a feeling this will not be a PSECU situation lol.
If it falls through, I’ll have donated $25 to the Genealogical Society, which I guess I can feel good about at the end of the day.
Being the DP that we wanna see! Yeah!
Live in the Collin County lines so will apply if this works out for you. Lol
Why does that make you think that a “hard” pull was done? They can access that info with a “soft” pull also.
Then it could very well be a soft pull. Still learning all the nuances of churning.
Application denied with no specific reason listed. I’ll get a letter in the mail with more information. Wouldn’t recommend this one for OOS applicants.
Did you get a letter yet? Are you going to try for recon?
Shroommu you have a nice avatar
bahahah someone else with excellent taste
would you guys say the readership here leans R or D? I’m not sure
What does it matter?
I would be interested to know if anyone is successful with frozen Chex.
I am now the newest member of the Tulsa Historical Society.
I’m not sure what the cheapest membership option is, but in the SEG, the Tulsa Historical Society is listed and says “employees and members.”
An individual membership is $35. If you have a P2 it could be worth the plunge because immediate family members or household are eligible as well.
There’s also a $50/$50 Referral bonus, but not sure if that would stack.
No idea how sensitive they are to chex though or if THS is even the best option listed.
“Collin Co Historical Society” may actually be Collin County Genealogical Society, which is $25 to join.
Karl I would be very interested to know if someone successfully joins this way.
I would be interested to know if anyone even tries. If there’s any evidence one of these methods might work I’ll apply and answer the OOS, EQ, and Chex questions.
I’m willing to give it a shot. I can swing $25 if it doesn’t work out.
How’s this story sound?
My boyfriend just found out he was adopted and his bio parents are from the Collin County area. He and I are interested in doing his genealogy to see if we can find more of his family.
Another member on the genealogical society recommended the CU to me because she’s a member and has really enjoyed her experience with them.
If asked for her name to check for membership, I’ll just say a random first name like Sandra and that I didn’t catch her last name.
I’ll tell them my friend Shroommu recommended them. Even better, you might be able to get a $50 refer-a-friend bonus. Not sure if they’re still running that though.
It’s good to know people are interested in their Collin County heritage!
Any sister in law works for these companies
If anyone applies, check for a hard pull on Equifax
let me know how your donation route goes
I’m not going through with the application. They called me and told me to unfreeze my credit reports. I asked which one, they said Equifax. I asked if it would be a hard pull, rep said yes. Then said I’d have to re-apply with my credit reports unfrozen. I’m not going to for the hard pull. $25 membership I’ll never use. Oh well.
If I see any evidence one of the Historical Society donations work I’ll test it because I don’t care about Equifax. Nobody ever pulls it for me anyway.
Many reps don’t know the difference between hard and soft pulls so it’s an open question until someone tries it.
Thanks for posting this one Doc
I am looking for sister in law who works in those companies 🙂
