Reviews suggest that the gift card can no longer be applied to existing accounts – was someone recently able to add it to an existing account?

Wait, are you guys saying I can use both the Shipt offer of $49 for new membership, and then the Target offer of $99 for membership + $50 target gc? But I will be stuck with 2 memberships?? Someone please explain

THANK you! I’ve been looking for a discount. They also have free same-day shipt orders ($50+) through mother’s day, 05/09.  William Charles

As with the last deal, you can apply these GCs to an existing Shipt account. Good for 3 months from the date of redemption.

Brad Have you been able to apply it to an existing account and it shows as a credit? That language to apply as credit was removed from the listing this time and reviews seem to indicate it can no longer be done.

I know last time i tried it was a huge pain. I was under trial for 6m target circle. I bought a membership card and couldn’t get it applied. So I cancelled the trial and then signed up for a paid subscription and it then finally worked. Then called to cancel my membership got my target circle trial back.

I am not going to try again bc i can tell they are trying to close the door on this. I spent an entire night on the phone with shipt and was barely worth it.

One reason to buy through Target would be the 5% Redcard discount, but it’s only showing up as $2.45 off for me, which is short of 5%. Seems like they’re taking off the $50 promo gift card from the 5% off calculation.
Still, it is better to go through Target with Recard assuming you don’t have a card that gets you over 2.45% at Shipt.

Also, you can place your delivery orders directly through Target’s app or website, so you can get the Redcard discount for each delivery and get to apply coupons or offers that Target has.

The target.com terms say “Redemption limit one gift card per guest.” So that’s a reason to get both.

WOAH! It doesn’t work in the same way as the other gift card. It has a different redemption link (https://shipt.com/redemption) and it’s not allowing me to add credits to my account.

PS: Did not work on Chrome (options to redeem for 6 or 12 months memberships), but It worked on firefox (I was presented with the options to redeem for different amounts $25, 30, …, $99, other amounts )
The value with expire in 90 days

RAM I’m confused by your DP. You can’t use the shipt gift card as credit but then you got the option to do so?

I am a current Shipt member but didn’t want to jump the gun and get this.

Read the comment tree on

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/shipt-12-month-membership-50-target-giftcard-for-99/#comment-1108858

recap: I was already a shipt member, trying to redeem this shipt gift card as purchasing credit and not membership.
Chrome and Firefox redirect to different pages
Following https://www.shipt.com/redeem12 (the official link) and entering my email address leads to https://shop.shipt.com/redeem/payment where,
in chrome leads to membership redemption and Firefox leads to $ redemption

Thank you. I’m still debating because anything outside of Target is so overpriced but this would make it less painful 🙂

I have the same problem, bought the Shift membership at Target on Dec. 14 but until now can not use it. It does not apply to my Target account and every time I want to shop there, my account was charged $9.99 for the delivery fee. I got to Shift website and found no place to redeem. I try to correct this problem and call/chat with Target and Shift customer services many times! In one day they passed me back and forth 7 times and still wanted to give me another number to call. I was frustrated and hang up!

DP on Target.com: Although I never saw the offer in the screenshot of the post, I purchased the shipt membership gift card. The $50 target gift card never posted. I called the customer service and they “price matched” my purchase with the promotion of this post.

Shipt is a rip off. They charge more than target for target items, without telling you the percentage increase.

Are you not shopping through the target app?

Roman

It’s a rip off indeed, they charge a membership fee and on top of that they also charge more for items from anywhere, not only Target.

Honestly, I don’t mind paying a little more for the products IF I don’t pay a membership (like I do on Instacart) but paying both things is a no-no.

On Instacart if you don’t have express, you pay for the delivery plus you pay the markup price for the items. And the markup is normally higher on instacart than on shipt.

You can also buy Instacart Express membership for, surprisingly, 99, to have free delivery on orders over 35. Exactly the same as the shipt membership. Except that you would still be paying the higher markup prices.

Meanwhile on shipt if you are ordering thru target (not the shipt app), then there is no markup price, you pay what you would pay in the store, and you can also use your redcard for 5% off (or target gift cards).

You can see how ripoff is Instacart if you try to order from BJs: For BJs you can order thru Instacart, without BJ membership, pay the markup and the delivery. Or you could order from the BJs app, clicking on same day delivery, in which case you could by stuff without the markup, but you have to pay the delivery fee. Now you might think you can buy Instacart Express for 99 a year, have BJs membership and then order without delivery fee and without markup, but it is not the case because instacart express membership doesn’t apply to the instacart orders if you went thru the BJs App. That’s how Instacart, the Uber of grocery delivery services operate.

Target prices are the same for me with Shipt, but only Target because they own Shipt. When I make an order on Target.com, I can choose same day with Shipt, delivery or pickup and they’re all the same price. The only added price for me, when shopping at Target, is the Shipt membership.

Right now, Shipt annual membership is $49 for me (not a member yet). Should I sign up for $49 first and then buy this? That would get me $99 in Shipt credit + $50 Target GC + 1 year Shipt membership for $149.

If I bought this and then used it, I’d get 1 year membership + $50 Target GC for $99.

Unless I’m missing something, it seems like if you spend $50 more total, you get an extra $99 Shipt credit.

How should I redeem the $99 shipt membership gift card as a credit? I just sign up the membership with $49, and bought the gift card. I do not see a way to add it. Thanks.

This was the link that the gift card card provided – https://www.shipt.com/redeem12

Once you’re on that website, it took me a couple of login attempts to be presented with the screen that allowed to me to redeem/add credit to my account.

Can you explain this? My membership ends in late January, so how would this work for me? Would I have to wait until the end of January to redeem the $99 code? Confused thanks

If it’s a paid membership you could redeem the $99 code right now on the URL I posted in my earlier comment. I guess you’d have to use up the $99 credit before your membership expires in January? (Not sure if the credit would roll over after you renew your membership).

If you have a P2, you can maximize it further!

P1: $99 in Shipt credit + $50 Target GC + 1 year Shipt membership for $149
P2: $99 in Shipt credit + $50 Target GC for $99 (since you can add the Shipt credit to P1’s Shipt account)

Shipt is okay, but just do drive up now. I find the target pickers to be more reliable than the Shipt shoppers. But this could be a great gift.

Hari
Hari (@guest_1108854)
December 14, 2020 14:31

I’ve seen target pickers don’t actually pick from the shelves outside but from their inventory inside a large room in my local Target where they process pickup orders now. I doubt Shipt shoppers would have access to that area and hence some out of stock issues.

Agreed, drive up is great with the app. I barely get the car into park before they’re coming out the door with my order.
