Shopathome is Discontinuing their Best Rate Guarantee

The Shopathome shopping portal will no longer be offering their Best Cash Back Rate Guarantee starting tomorrow, August 2, 2016. You can still get the guarantee today, August 1.

This change isn’t being stated on their site, but when submitting a Claim, they tell you about it in the confirmation email.

This is an unfortunate portal development. Going forward, the only portals that now offer a Best Rate Guarantee are Topcashback and Befrugal. For more information on this guarantee, read our full review Highest Cash Back Guarantee for Online Shopping Portals.

Yeah that leaves TopCashback as the best choice for the most part – they also have great support, and they do a 3% bonus if you receive your payout as an Amex pre-paid card (3% more cashback inherently). BeFrugal can be sketchy with their support/tracking sometimes… and eBates rarely has the best rate.

RIP, ShopAtHome – used it a ton with the guarantee… wonder what happened there? Or maybe it simply was too much of a loss to be able to keep on doing it. Oh well, cashback life must go on!

Once per store, forever? That totally sucks. I guess I’d be better off just using the one that was the highest. I hate having multiple small amounts at several places, but I still want the best deal.

Their 110% cash back guarantee was the driving force behind my using their site, especially if Ebates had their double cash back deal for a site I was interested in. I guess that’s one way to drop traffic and lose customers. Now it will be whichever site has the best deal, and if SAH is tied with someone else, it will no longer be SAH. I’m still finding it hard to believe that they are dropping the ShopGold as well. Makes me wonder if other sites will start closing down, since FatWallet is no longer doing cash back at all.

BeFrugal may have a best rate guarantee, but it is only valid for stores that offer it, and since the purchase has to be made first, if the better rate is/was only valid for a short time (Ebates daily double cash back deals), you might miss out. I guess this probably means only using the rebate site with the best deal at the time of purchase.

And you can do it just once per store, so you have to time it right/hope for the best percentage discrepancy to max it out.

I’ve had a really hard time lately getting my purchases to track through portals and SAH was really tough to get manually fixed. Ebates is usually super easy to fix. I’m not sure what happened, if its my virus scanner, or my ad blocker or something else… But it used to work no problem just a few months ago.

Maybe you have to either select a gift card or check the balance of one already saved before it shows. I know I had selected one, and checked balances (to get some to say ‘used’ over my saved offers).

NOOOOOOO!! I, too, have used their 110% guarantee a lot to top any high rates I’d find at other sites; plus, you can use ANY coupon–not just those posted on their site–and still get the cash back (at least, in my experience that’s always been the case). *sigh* It was bad enough when they changed it from matching/beating any cash back site to just a few select ones, but to have it disappear altogether? A sad day for savvy shopping indeed.

OH MAN! I’m going to miss SAH and their guarantee. For me, SAH was my top choice followed by Ebates. I absolutely hated TCB.I used them mid 2015 and it took forever to pay on the 20 dollar item i bought. I completely gave up on checking if it tracked or not (it has obviously tracked now) but I never returned since then. I may have to now or just stick to ebates. Also trying out BeFrugal and like what i see. Will most likely shop around on the best rates and choose based on the highest CB – if similar i’ll go with a portal i’m more familiar with

Agreed TCB is better in almost everything but ShopAtHome was more profitable because of 110% guarantee and sometimes them running $5 for over $150 purchases.

Their best rate guarantee was my only reason I used them.
