Our Verdict
Let’s take a look at how much these offers are worth:
- The United offer maxes out at 4.8 miles per dollar of spend for $1,250 in spend. (Offer ends 11/24/15.)
- The AAdvantage offer maxes out at 4.2 miles per dollar for $1,200 in spend. (Offer ends 11/26/15.)
- The Southwest offer maxes out at 3.7 miles per dollar for $1,200 in spend. (Offer ends 11/26/15.)
- The Alaska offer maxes out at 3 miles per dollar for $500 in spend. (Offer ends 11/20/15.)
- The Delta offer offers 3 miles per dollar for $500 in spend. (Offer ends 11/23/15.)
United leads the pack, but all are nice bonuses added on top of the regular portal points.
These bonuses are especially worthwhile since you can do the spend at any merchant. Suppose you’re making eBay purchases during the promotional period. You can go through the portal and get the standard .5 or 1 mile per dollar, and you’ll end up with between 4 and 5.2 miles per dollar for the spend. Pretty darn good.
Anyone have their bonus points post yet? I did the United, AA, and Southwest portal bonuses and all the regular points posted correctly but none of the bonuses so far…
I purchased 1500 through southwest portal and 1500 through AA portal, the regular points tracked but not the bonus. any ideas?
The cute thing is that United is paying about half that of the other portals that I use (Southwest and American). Buyer beware!
Either you have a typo in the DL bonus section, or else I don’t understand why DL miles are being awarded for WN shopping portal purchases.
How long does it typically take AA portal to track? It says 2-3 weeks?! So basically I won’t know if everything tracked okay for the bonus until it’s over if that’s the case. Anyone have any experience with the AAdvantage portal by chance?
I think every cartera portal says that, and in almost every instance I’ve had it track properly. For what it’s worth, on probably 6 ebay orders between AA and UA, I’ve always had it track.
Cool! Thanks for sharing your experience, much appreciated.
I’ve had most of my purchases track within 3 days.
” The Southwest offer maxes out at 3.7 miles per dollar for $1,200 in spend. (Offer ends 11/26/15.)”
Southwest summary should say $1,500 not $1,200
Will buying VGCs from Staples trigger these?
Delta is also offering a shopping portal bonus…250 bonus miles for $75 or 1500 bonus miles for $500 in spend.

I think EBay gift cards excluded, but not gift cards from other merchants. These portal bonuses also stack very nicely for gift card churning with the many Amex Offers out there.
Would love to do the AA portal for these staples and sears GC deals happening now (plus get those sweet 4x ebay bucks), but I notice the T&C says gift cards are excluded. I don’t use the airline shopping portals very much, so curious if this is actually enforced or not. Can anyone comment?
I know I have been paid on gift card purchases through ebay for AA and Southwest’s portal in the past but I am not sure if they are more strict on the holiday shopping bonus…I think it would be fine though.
Based on my past experience, the bonus should pay out of the purchases satisfy the terms and conditions of the specific merchant. With respect to the eBay, non-eBay GC purchases should pay out regular miles since they aren’t excluded under the T&C, so the bonus should also pay out as you hit the various spend levels.
