Our Verdict
Looks like this promo includes Visa gift cards.Use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases to get an even bigger discount.
Does this work with VGC?
I bought the $100 VGC and got the receipt. They are $4.95 fees
Are Vanilla Visa Gift card easy to liquidate via MO? I have been able to liquidate visa gards from Staples with no issues at S&S. How do you set the pin during the first use? That means MO purchase can’t be the first purchase? Would appreciate feedback on this. Don’t want hassle of getting stuck with these visa GC. Thx
I was able to buy MO with this visa GC. On the first POS, it prompts to enter a pin (essentially asking to set a pin). Use any 4 digits and the transaction is processed as debit. I purchased MO on the first POS transaction. So it works, but the wording can confuse people (instead of enter pin it should say set pin).
My Shoprite decided to make a rule up that they don’t accept credit cards for gift card purchases. So skip.
Merchant or Visa/MC/Amex? If the former, I’m sure the franchise owner or corporate would like to know about it.
Just went into a ShopRite in Cromwell, CT and experienced this. Debit card/cash only for gift cards. I was buying $100 in Chick-Fil-A.
I did $100 in East Hartford, CT Shoprite yesterday on Amex without an issue but they have different owners.
I stopped doing this.
I have the receipt with the barcode but for the past two years, the cashier always had to get “approval”. The barcode wouldn’t scan. Not sure if cashier was clueless or what.
ShopRite hasn’t been printing barcodes for me… just a 6(?)-digit code and the full Price Plus card number. The cashier has to punch some keys and type it in, and IME (I’ve done this a few times this year) doesn’t have to call a manager. There’s a specific procedure, it doesn’t go in like a coupon or payment method – go later in the week to a cashier that you’ve seen many times before, and they should know to do it.
The other week, though, the code for $10 off didn’t print, and I was told to go to CS desk during the redemption week to get it printed. I did that, but they didn’t know how to process it correctly (new-ish to the CS desk), so they scanned two $5 Catalina “fail safes” and gave me $10 cash.
Shoprite accepts Chase Pay so 5X for freedom in this quarter. You can’t do Chase Pay at self checkout, but most cashier should know how to process that.
I tried chase pay at one point and the cashier didn’t know how to do it. I didn’t feel like having her figure out so I just paid and left.
Tell her she has to select chase pay just like she selects cash, credit, etc.
I like this promo. Works will with my Amex Gold which earn an additional 1 MR point at Shop Rite 🙂
For a total of 5 MR points.
Everyday card has the same offer. John 3:16
On the bottom of the receipt you will see a code to redeem with a start and end date (the following week for one week) you show that code to the cashier the next week and she types it into the computer. $20 Minimum purchase. Its one per price plus card number If you have numerous relatives/friends/numbers you can get many but remember “You have to buy each $100 gift card individually with the particular price plus number and then use the same price plus number with the specific code the following week at checkout”. (Me and spouse do 10-15 and with Shell gas cards).
When these deals happen, is the $20 off applied when you scan your Price Plus Card the next time you make a purchase? Or does it print a physical coupon?
If I remember correctly, you get the coupon at the bottom of your receipt.
If I remember correctly it was printed at the bottom of the receipt, something like “Congratulations you earned a $20 credit towards your next shopping trip” and you have to bring it with you next time.
you need to keep the actual paper coupon for the following week..starting that Sunday. 20.00 does not come off with price plus card. need actual paper receipt. And for the past 3 years Shoprite will have another deal on gift cards the week after although it will be 15.00 off groceries.
