Our Verdict
Sounds like an fairly easy way of earning $100. This is the best offer we’ve seen from Voyager. I’m not sure if there are any fees to make the trade. People are getting waitlisted by Voyager, but they’ve sent an email out indicating that if you signup now and get waitlisted you’ll still be eligible for the $100 promo.

Anyone attempted to churn this (i.e. with the $100 referral promo) after closing an account that had been done with MAVS100?
The promo is still valid if you have signed up for the account with that promo code last year. I wasn’t automatically approved for that account, and it’s pending for review for a while. I eventually got approval this year. I didn’t have high hopes that I could get the bonus, although the terms didn’t mention a specific time frame to complete the $100 deposit requirements.
It turns out that Voyager is such a great company! I still got my $100 BTC a couple of days after buying $100 USDC in 2022. If your registration was not completed for some reasons yet you have entered that promo code, I would encourage you to give it a try now.
will voyager be issuing any 1099 tax form to report the ~$100 of btc from this promo? I haven’t received any notification of a form yet. wondering if anybody else got one, or knows if they will likely be issuing one or not?

I tried to obtain it through CryptoTrader, but it wouldnt generate a 8949 or any other form since there were no capital gains/losses, just income. Do you happen to know how to make this work ?

It was a Form 8949 that was generated- but for your taxes, you can just enter your cost basis and net profits/loss from the purchases and sale. I chose to enter each transaction individually, and essentially my cost basis on the free $100 was $0 so i’d be taxed on it.
Per the help topic on the voyager app, it points to the below comment Josh made. I followed thru with it, and it issues an 8949 form. Seems like a back wards way of doing this…very strange. Should be 1 click to get a tax form.

CrypoTrader is now CoinLedger. Would this $100btc be taxed if it hasn’t been sold? I thought crypto is only reported when it’s sold

I opened the account, deposited $250 and made a trade, got the $100. promo BTC deposited in my account on 11/24. It’s been almost a month now and they won’t remove the Pending status on the $100 funds, They won’t reply to emails or chat. Adding insult to injury I made 2 small BTC withdrawals from money I deposited and without disclosing or even showing in accounting they charged $25. and $28. just to send $25. in BTC. Kraken charged .99 cents for the same exact transaction. Of the $350 total (my $250. dep plus $100 promo) I sent out about $100. That should have left me with $250. minus value drop and fees. Yet I now only have $99. total and that is still locked up in pending status.
It’s a scam ponzi scheme and I think the guys that were able to clear and withdraw funds were the early ones. Now as the ponzi hits midstride I predict everyone’s accounts will be frozen, locked, pending all the while dwindling away by undisclosed exorbitant fees til there’s nothing left to even withdraw.
A crypto exchange on this level with no way to speak to support? Huge RED FLAG! No phone #, chatting to a human is non existent. As soon as you become aware that things are not on the level all email to support go unanswered.

Any one have luck closing this account? I have tried submitting a ticket to close, waited weeks, tried again. Still no reply.

I was able to get my account closed in 24 hours. I submitted a request via the chatbot on the phone app. Not sure how others have been doing it but I’m assuming they’ve been manual emails that voyager support hasn’t gotten to.
so final withdrawal has been completed per the app but its nowhere to be found in my wells fargo checking acct. WTF? Its been completed status for days now and nowhere are the funds to be found.

mine just finally notified that the btc was available, so withdrawal started. Terrible experience and their official reddit is extremely toxic too.

I’m glad someone else said this is a terrible experience. I did the promo and made the correct deposits but I never received my bonus. I’ve contacted their support and haven’t heard anything.
Just withdrew $201.20 out of my Voyager. Sold the BTC right away and the USDC coin. Pending withdrawal.
