On the Simon Mall’s website they have announced the discontinuation of the 5 back card:
- The 5% Back Visa Simon Giftcard will be discontinued on 11/1/17. All cards will remain valid and can continue to be used after 11/1/17 in accordance with the Cardholder Agreement.
The program has somewhat struggled with popular merchants being removed over time (Lowe’s, CVS & others). The Five Back website doesn’t mention this end date, so presumably it’s only the Simon’Mall’s five back cards that are being discontinued and not all of them.
Hat tip to sauce_bawsss
Since they aren’t popular anymore, they would be wise to put them on sale to get rid of their inventory. Fee free would draw interest. But, I still wouldn’t use an Amex to buy them (many have had bad experiences and points clawed back. I was giving all my MR points to charity and Amex still clawed back leaving me with a negative balance. So, my business no longer bothers with Amex.
My friend does substantial MS volume at the mall with his starwood and MR cards. I think they mainly care about minimum spend being done with these.
Wish that was the case. I was also flying under radar for a while. Some cards seem safer than others (not as much threat I guess) As always, YMMV.
Damn. I am still earning 5% back at a local grocery. Gonna stock up on $500vgcs now!
Care to share where?
He’s most likely lying. There are no grocery stores in the program. A lot of people in this hobby have narcissistic personality disorder which pairs itself with lying pathologically. Look at the president for instance.
Do you have issue? Need help?
Projection perhaps?
People on this website are much easier to get roiled up with even the smallest anti trump comment.
I don’t think I see any grocery stores on the 5back website. Are there stores that earn 5back even if they’re not on the website, and if so, how do you find them? Or did I just overlook a store on the site?
don’t waste time looking for one, there’s none. A lot of merchants have gotten out of the program 🙁
They were pretty useless anyway.
