Update 12/29/21: Annual fee no longer waived.
Update 12/5/21: Back to down to $300 bonus.
Update 11/22/21: Bonus has been increased to $600 (from $300). Hat tip to reader Gadget
SkyOne Federal Credit Union has launched a new credit card called ‘Platinum Elite‘. Let’s take a look at this card:
- Sign up bonus of $300 after approval and 30,000 points after $3,000 in spend within the first three months (worth $300)
- $65 annual fee, waived for the first year if you apply by December 31, 2020
- Starting January 1, 2021 select rewards in Choice Rewards program. Users will be able to select a category to earn 3x in and 2x in ($7,500 spend cap), all other purchases will earn 1x per dollar spent.
Can’t see this being worth keeping long term due to the low earning rate and annual fee, but could be worth it for the $300 sign up bonus depending on how difficult it is to get approved for.
I applied 11/30 during the time the $600 bonus was active. I just met my $3000 spend and was only credited with 10,000 points. I will be inquiring tomorrow… I will say that it did credit immediately.
Promo ended as the link no longer works anymore. Lol
Told me I needed to go to a branch when I applied, and then I received emails this week that they called (they didn’t) and wanted my pay stub, bank account statement, and copy of my drivers license. I’m not going to waste any more of my time.
This credit card requires a membership to open the card.
Yep. Credit unions have those kinda rules… you can get a $25 Amazon GC to join via referral.
Everytime I applied for membership savings account, it kept on saying I need to visit a branch to complete the application. Am I doing something wrong?
It’s possible they blocked out-of-footprint zip codes now. A year ago anyone could join by joining the Surfrider Foundation. I assume you are a US Citizen, as a different cit. status might cause that too.
Membership was approved, not sure if the $500 will be deposited into the savings I opened.
Well I got denied for membership and the credit card app that got approved was denied. Lol
I app’d for savings acct, autodec due to chex.
Thank You
Thank you for applying with SkyOne Federal Credit Union. Your application has been received and is under review. We’ll contact you within one business day regarding your application
TLDR from the comments
Risky, after application may have to go in branch to complete (located in California), hard pull
Props, but gonna pass
I applied and was approved but it did say due to technical issues I would have to go in branch (I’m OOS). Just FYI to anyone trying. I’m LOL/24 on both credit cards and bank accounts at this point.
The employment dropdown only has some specific employers, how are people getting past it.
If you don’t work for any of the companies in the dropdown menu, then write in your employer in the designated box. You don’t have to choose from the dropdown menu. Good luck! It’s a pretty sweet deal and the tungsten metal card is nice to use.
Tried applying just right now today 11/22 for this card. Received the “Thank you for completing the application! For technical reasons we are not able to process your application online, we encourage you to come to our nearest office to fill in the application” message after submission. They also pulled Experian for me (I live in AZ).
As long as you’re not a churner or fraud, they still might approve the application if you have little debt and good/excellent credit. They might just have to do more work with your application to get you approved. They will contact you for more information if that’s the case, so be ready to respond to emails or calls. Good luck.
Hmm, I just received a text today saying “You’ve successfully completed your SkyOne Membership Application. For your reference, your membership application number is XXXXX”. Appears there may still be a chance (I most likely will expect a denial given my recent applications though, but here’s to hoping!).
Update: Denial confirmed due to number of inquiries (I had at least 3 this month).
Update 2: A loan officer from the bank contacted me today for a potential reconsideration with a submission of pay stub (I was denied still as they look at actual earned YTD vs. hourly pay rate/estimated pay for the year)
