Our Verdict
Nice discount (works out to be 16% back), shame about the exclusions though.
Chuck There is a new offer this week of a $20 coupon with a $100 GC purchase. Usual exclusions plus Amazon GCs. So might be a good offer for a lot of people.
Can you combine gc’s to total $125?
Ksyuxa Yes, based on my experience with a similar promotion in June.
Can anyone confirm promotion applies to other gift cards not pictured in the ad? I do see some excluded i.e. Amazon, HD, Apple, Visa, etc l.
kfp11 From the weekly ad: “Offer good on all gift cards except VISA, Mastercard, Apple, Amazon, The Home Depot, Tracfone, Net-10, and Smart Final gift cards.”
Offer link goes to a “blank” coupon page, no info confirming this deal. Any other link? Web search only comes up with something from 2020.

Is Disney gift cards included?
Yes, if you can find a location that stocks them.
Some (hopefully helpful) observations based on my experience with prior gift card promotions at Smart & Final:
(1) No cumulative limit is enforced. I bought $4,500 worth of gift cards this summer over the course of several visits (P2 and P3 needed new laptops) with absolutely no issues other than occasionally having my ID checked.
(2) The $20 coupons cannot be combined when you redeem them — one per transaction. Also, other digital coupons frequently — but not always — do not work if you are using the $20 coupons.
(3) Gift card stock varies widely between stores — locations in low-income zip codes tend to have noticeably less robust gift card racks compared to those in wealthier areas.
(4) While Smart & Final’s regular prices aren’t cheap, they can have excellent clearance deals on which you can use your $20 coupons. Check the cart in the back of the store for clearance fruits and vegetables, and also walk up and down the aisles and look for clearance stickers on stuff like detergent, shampoo etc.
Do they let you do a bunch of transactions all at once back to back? It’s limit one per transaction.
Yes, I usually did 5 transactions per visit. Could have done more, probably, but did not want to draw undue attention to myself.
any fraud hold from credit card? everytime i do 2 or 3 chase would block my card and i need to call , they don’t even ask me via app
Credit Card Offers I used mostly MCGCs at first, so no issue with those. When I finally ran out and started using regular credit cards, then, yes, I would have to switch cards every couple of transactions, and even then sometimes I would get fraud alert declines if I was buying at more than one location during the day.
Where I am, Smart & Final is one of the cheapest grocers already and certainly not in any affluent areas! The Extra! store has bulk quantities for caterers and restaurants to buy, but I’ve found their private label brands to be inedible to the point of hilarity. I threw out a jar of pickles for the first time in my life because they tasted so bad!
But agree on your points. Some cashiers are vigilantes about one coupon per visit, but most let me through the line as many times as I want to use each coupon.
