I was checking to make sure the $200 sign up bonus after $500 spend offer was still live and noticed that the Sony CardSM from Capital One® sign up bonus has changed. They’ll now give you a $100 statement credit after you’ve made your first purchase (this change was actually made on the 5th of January, 2014). .
Rules:
- First purchase must be made within 90 days of card opening
- It takes 8-12 weeks for the statement credit to appear
Key Features Of The Card:
- 0% introductory APR through 10/2014 billing period
- No annual fee
- No transfer fee
- 25 day grace period
It’s also worth noting that Capital One will check all three credit bureaus when you apply for this card (most credit card issuers will only do a hard inquiry with one of the bureaus). I was encouraging people to add this card onto the end of their app-o-ramas, but with it being downgraded to only $100 I wouldn’t bother, unless you’re struggling to meet the minimum spend requirements on other cards. It might also be worth it for people with credit card debt as there is no transfer fee and it has a 0% APR for 8-9 months.

Nice offer, was wondering if that required first purchase has to be on a Sony product (or from a Sony store) in order to receive the $100 credit? Or can the first purchase be made anywhere, i.e. a $0.50 pack of gum from a gas station?
Can be anywhere, doesn’t need to be a Sony Purchase. Keep in mind that Capital One will pull from all three credit bureaus. There are much better offers out there.
