Our Verdict
The regular sign up bonus on this card is $100 after first purchase, although this increased $200 sign up bonus has been offered before (December 28th, 2013 – January 5th, 2014). The biggest problem with this offer is the fact that Capital One will pull all three of your credit reports when deciding on whether to approve or deny you.
The upside is that Capital One will approve almost all applicants instantly for this card, the exception being if there is a bankruptcy on file. Consumers with credit scores under 600 have even been regularly approved for this card. I think the majority of people will be better off going with a different card that offers a cash sign up bonus [our list can be found here], unless you have a poor credit history in which case this might be a good option. If you’re not approved for this card automatically, it might be worth calling the Capital One reconsideration line. The number for their reconsideration department can be found here.
In other news, Sony has scraped the release of The Interview after terrorism threats. Sony pictures was also recently hacked, possibly by North Korea.
Other posts you might find helpful:
- Capital one generally does not match higher sign up bonuses if you recently applied for a lower offer, but it’s always worth a call.
- Capital one cards should be churnable
- Capital one does not offer expedited shipping on their credit cards
- You can request a credit limit increase with Capital One every six months, this is a soft pull
- Capital One has a pre-approved/targeted offer checker which you can use here, although I doubt you’ll see a higher sign up bonus on this card
- We’re unsure if Capital One combines multiple hard inquiries or not
- Capital One does not allow you to reallocate your credit limits between your Capital One cards
