Not directly related to this staples deal, but since you guys are in a sharing mood… how do you liquidate your amex gcs? Yes, I know, I’m a noob, and yes, technically these things can be googled. Except most of what google gives me is posts from a year ago or more which probably don’t work anymore- everything is ymmv anyway and I’m o.k. with that, but old info is just a waste of time.

Before I had even heard of MS, I used to buy amex gift cards when there were deals at safeway, then save them to purchase whatever the next safeway gift card deal was. Once in a while I would get the wrong cashier, but I rarely had any problems. I tried to use my amex gc this week on the visa 5back deal but cashier asked me my form of payment. I didn’t want to “fess up” so I simply said “amex” and then I was told they wouldn’t accept it unless it was a chip card. Anybody else have this problem? Is this a new rule, or did I just get the wrong cashier?

Also, can I use the visa5back on a wm money order and get the 5back for purchasing a money order?

Basically, it just makes sense to avoid accepting non-chip cards to reduce fraud. If you’re buying higher amounts (200 and above), they usually make sure that the payment method you’re using is legit.

Not available in Vermont.

Apparently Staples no longer sells MC GC’s in VT

Anyone go to Staples? i went today to find all high amount VGC and MCGC completely out. either someone bought them all or staples pulled them off for some reason. I did the past 5 rebates, this is a first for me.

Can’t wait until next quarter when I can just buy the MOs directly at Walmart with my Freedom and get the 5% discount without needing to go to Staples. 🙂

He means he’ll buy $500 non-Vanilla GC with his Freedom at WM, then buy MO with them at WM. WM is a 5% category next quarter with Freedom. Can’t wait to do the same thing!

Okay, dumb question time. What exactly is a Vanilla GC and why is it different? I’ve tried looking it up but not really found the answer I was looking for.

You wait to liquidate till you get home?! I do it on my way home. I probably won’t bother with this one, but I did well with Stop and Shop gas points in a MC deal the other week.

They tend to do these deals near the end of the quarter to make their revenue numbers look good. It’s also typically the time for lots of eBay Bucks bonuses.

Can someone give a quick overview of ways to liquidate these MC currently:

– does Bluebird/Serve load work at WM? Any special instructions?

– does getting a money order work? Which nationwide stores work?

– any other easy ways?

Tia 🙂

(Never do these normally, but getting swamped with min-spend requirements atm…)

let me get this straight. you are now swamped with MSR and you didnt care to learn how to liquidate MCGC beforehand and now you want somebody to give you a wiki that is more readily available than memes about Trump incest molesting his daughters? give me a break…

TIA.

Joe,
I thought his comment was rather restrained. You really need to be able to think at least two steps ahead in this “hobby”, and always have at least one additional liquidation strategy.
If you don’t get your answers here, I guess you can call a CSR at Kroger and ask them for advice. Hint: that was sarcasm.
Id suggest you *at least* learn the churning search tool.

Hi, don’t mind helping you as others have done for me. You can liquidate MC and VG cards by loading them to a BBC @ Wal-Mart. Tell the cashier that you want to use a debit card to load your BB card. All MC & V GC’s have a pin# that is the last 4 digits of the GC #. Do your best not to let the cashier see that it’s a GC as they may refuse to do it on that basis. AMEX GC’s must be spent on purchases. This info comes from my personal experiences only. It’s amazing how people will take the time to insult others when they could spend the same amount of time helping instead. Love in Christ.

You are wrong on the PIN. Metabank VGC PIN is last 4. USB MGC PIN is on paper in packaging. Some (all?) Vanilla VGC/MGC have PIN set at first use.

Walmart POS is troublesome and requires quick fingers to change payment method to debit with US Bank MGC.

Like I said, that was my experience only. Thanks for the info.! I’ll keep that in mind when I make purchases in the future. I’m sure this will help Joe as well. Love in Christ.

Hiding that you’re using a Gift Card so you don’t get caught–how do you justify that bit of dishonesty? Whatever it takes to justify your attitude I guess…

You shouldn’t be speaking for other ppl. I don’t see it anywhere in this person’s advice about “hiding” it from the cashier. Reread it or should we be telling everyone in line we are using a gift card.

MC issued by U.S. bank can be registered online with your info, after registered, you can load the card online into your BB/Serve, your name and address must match your BB/Serve account of course. After verifying two trial deposits, load it into BB/Serve and wait another 7-8 calendar days to get the previous pending trial deposit revert, then load the remaining which is a little more than $2.00 into the account. No need to go to WM. Your MC wouldn’t have your name on it, so bringing it to a postal office to get a money order might be rejected. I always find a way to avoid contacting real ppl to avoid problems, and prefer it that way.

Tom (@guest_479085)

Jason, I assume that this method isn’t used by most MS’ers because it isn’t instantaneous. Every single article I read said to load at WM. You are the only one I read who said to do it on your home computer.

JASON
JASON (@guest_479426)
September 19, 2017 11:11

that’s only because not too many ppl nowadays still have BB/Serve, so going to WM would be easier for them, same as doing it online all by myself is easier for me.

would the $2 would be the trial deposit amount? could you then also wait a week and deposit the entire amt in one shot?

Two amounts slightly over $1, so total slightly over$2. Wait for 7-8 days for the trial deposits to revert back then load that back to BB/Serve.
