All of my Citi cards just got a 4% back (Max $10) offer for Staples. Might be better than using Ink Cash 5x.

Isn’t 5x Ink better than 4x Citi?

4% is a merchant offer, which can be better when stacked with a Citi card that already earns 2% – 5% cashback.

However if you’re looking to maximize transferable points, 5x from Ink is probably a better way to go for most people.

Got it. I’ve heard of the 2% Double Cash but didn’t know Staples fell into a 5% Custom Cash category. But you’re right, most likely Ink users would prefer the transferable points.

Wait are the staples.com gift cards eligible for the 10% Staples merchant offers from Chase?

I bought some gift cards the other week and it triggered the chase offer

Staples.com also supports Paypal for Chase Freedom 5% back.

Can’t buy gift cards with PayPal at staples.

Hmm that must be new. I used Paypal a couple of months ago.

There is a 3 gift card limit for the reduced rates.

Yeah I ran into this not too long ago, Ink Cash 5x is the way to go
