Our Verdict

Great deal for INK users, though it’ll only work for a single card per transactions. Update: Readers confirm this is working with multiple cards in a single transaction, as in prior such deals, no need to split up the transactions.

Reader Kelly notes this can stack with a $5 Retailmenot deal. There’s also a Wells Fargo Go Far deal at Staples stores.

Went to a Staples location today and they restocked all the $200 cards. Limited to 5 per.

So far, the Staples purchase has tracked in my Wells Fargo account, but not the Bonus Cash Rewards Offer. Made the purchase on 9/2. Maybe Staples doesn’t allow the bonus on GC’s…?

I will contact Customer Service if the bonus doesn’t show up by tomorrow, and I will update this post if anything changes.

Agent says that sometimes the bonus rewards don’t show in the account until the regular cash rewards post. In my case, that will 9/8.

Just got an email confirming the bonus cash rewards, so apparently it works.

YMMV for no of cards bought………
1st store i went, they said only 1…………had a printed sign on counter showing 1/card.

2nd store i went, tried 5 of $200 first, smooth as butter, no questions asked (as i was sure they would allow only 1, but BINGO) .
Again went back in and bought 5 AGAIN this time, worked again seamlessly….

So guess YMMV.

Plan to do it few more times, 10 in a row before end date with SO too.

I went to a Central FL Staples on Sunday…$200 VGC out, $100 VGC, $50 VGC out (not the deal at $100 & $50, but still). Wish Staples would keep a decent VGC inventory. Bait and switch marketing tactic with low inventory can be discouraging.

Simon Mall has been a great friend lately except for Amex Cards (darn RATs).

I do not think you can blame Chase for moving the goal post to 5/48 on Sapphire Reverse. Banks are greed. Too many people taking advance of a legal, legitimate system. Banks despise “the hobby”. The banks have been humiliated on a national, viral level. Next year, Chase will change it to 5/72. The random Chase shutdowns are major BS. I plan on canceling a few of their cards next year.

The game is starting to wine down. It pays to be a veteran instead of a newbie at this point.

I think its 48 months for their bonus per card, not five cards in 48 months. I think 5/24 is still accurate for applying for cards.

As for Staples, it depends on location. Not all stores are like that.

JS: I went to a similar FL store today, also. Rack of $200 empty except for a taped $200 card. I was told it was fine. One clerk looked at the rack and basically told me nothing else to do. Went to the register and the clerk there left the checkout area and went and got a cellophane wrapped pack of them and opened. Great service on her part. Asked me to participate in survey if I thought she had performed well.

Good to witness such effort! 🙂

Went to a few in the area myself with no luck on Sunday and Monday. Several have told me previously that they pulled them from the shelves due to “fraud issues”. However, I think one that I went to had just been cleaned out by someone who took everything they had.

Any cheap way to liquidate/cash out the balance on these Visa gift cards? I tried Plastiq, but they’re not doing Visa temporarily it seems.

Next best option I can think of is to use Square and make a transaction to yourself.

Note: I don’t want to use the Visa gift cards to pay bills.

What to do with these cards? Simple. Use them.

Without a fee and you need points, miles, or already used travel charges for redemption, just do it.

I am an AU with someone who has BOA Preferred. We will take all the TR points for redemptions we can obtain. Tranferring points is a terrific benefit, too!

BTW, thanks for the info, DoC!

I just read again the info further down. I have Wells Fargo Go Rewards, too. This is great! Only downside, the drive but I will incorporate a trip through a Culvers for a BOGO.

Every time, when there is such deal, the staples nearby always do not have any inventory in store, every after several visits during different time.

If you cannot have enough inventory, don’t do promo! How can I trust you as a store?

This offer still applies when purchasing more than one card. I bought four $200 cards and the total price was $800.
