wasted time & gas $ yday; driving 50 miles rt to be told limit 1 only per corp.; this store many times in the past sold $2k per visit
One cashier told me the limit 1 per customer per day is coming from MC, not from Staples Corporate. If it’s true then not sure why? Unless MC subside this promo, there is no reason to limit it.
That’s what i thought if they insist one per customer, but the manager insisted that one per customer for the whole 7 days period, since they saw my face and i stand out, i never went back to that store after only got 1 card 1st day. Of course, I wont back to get one per day even they let me, lol. Only worth a stop or trip if i can buy multiples.
Why not use these to purchase a small item and get cash back at a grocery store or somewhere that offers cash back? Or is that deemed too cumbersome for most people?
Typically the card will decline cashback even if terminal gives you the option.
NO prepaid cards will allow CB as option even if you press yes for CB. This is also stated in the TOS. I’d like to see new counter DPs for this since this has always been the case for years now.
Data point: stopped at a Staples today while traveling for work. Bought 9 cards without a word from the cashier. In fact, she apologized that the transaction took so long due to the process of opening the tabs with the little bit of glue on them. 3/27 12:45 pm.
has anyone swiped more than 4 cards (like 5?) in one transaction at Kroger?
Got 10 MCGC. Wondering whether I can drain them in just two transactions.
Four-swipe is fine from my experience.
A Staples close to where I work did not enforce limit. I got 2 from them to test them out since I did not know the limit yesterday. Staples closer to where I live did enforce limit of 1 courtesy of cashier who by the way asked me what do folks do with them since there was one guy who went there before to try to purchase 10 GCs and got denied to only 1 MC GC. You might have thought that by now said cashier might see a freaking pattern since she is checking out people’s credit card to match their ID’s
The system does allow you to purchase more than 1 at $200 each.
Also, check your PNC, BOA, BBVA, Chase, etc offers for 10% back at Staples ($60/$6 limit). You can split (YMMV, the system will allow it) payments on these at Staples.
Good that I bought what i needed for this month and next spend on Sunday/Monday. With 1/limit the store can have all to themselves.
I assume the limit 1 thing isn’t hard coded? It’s been nice to have no drama buying these things, considering that unloading them is a PITA. If I weren’t so fond of my Chase points — which are otherwise hard to gin up — I wouldn’t bother.
Are there any expiration dates on these? I ended up signing up for Wells Fargo Propel and Capital One Savor at the same time, thinking I was rejected by Capital One, so I still have 3000 left to spend on that one and 500 on WFP to get the bonuses.
200 will certainly help cut into that.
Mine had exp dates in 2027
The store by me always enforces a 1 card per customer policy, regardless of whats in the fine print. No point in even wasting the time with that kind of restriction.
