Our Verdict
This is always a popular deal, made better when you use a card that earns at a high rate on office supply stores. There is an AmEx offer for staples as well.
Hat tip to GC Galore
No go at my local Staples, which is pretty dependable to be sold out. I should just write it off. (OD better except for the fuel cards)
But, there is one out of the way which is on the way to the beach tomorrow. Will try there and if I am disappointed, at least I didn’t go out of the way by much.
Update: Bradenton FL, Manatee Ave westbound, near Publix.
Well supplied.
I’m not seeing this in their ad.
I decided to check and I also did not see it initially. Even after using the search feature. But it is there.
If you go to print the ad, it is at the bottom of page 8. It’s cut off on both my phone and computer otherwise.
Visited a Staples in Rochester NY on my way home from vacation today. Couldn’t find any cards, manager pulled them from the back. I asked why, they said a guy comes in and “steals them all and then brings them back to buy + activate when they’re on sale.” Don’t be like that guy. LOL
The Henrietta one?
Yes.
I don’t buy many of these because I have to use for organic spend but picked up one today and split payment to use two Amex offers. Thanks.
PPl how do you liquidate those gift cards? I was able to spend only one card at a time to get a money order. Our walmart doesnt let me use multiple gift cards for one money order.

Kyle ‘s comment above for a well established and successful method…
There is really no great way without fees. I would just plan a big purchase and load them as Amazon gift cards (although you need to be aware that Amazon does a $0.10 card check to see if the card is real… so you may have to do it in two adds, one of say, $190, then $10 a week later after the $0.10 refunds – you don’t want to be stuck with a $0.10 card as Amazon minimum load is $0.50).
If i already didn’t have $500 in bjs cards, loading them as bjs gc’s would be a fine option for me. I definitely spend $3000/yr there.
@TDD why not just buy Amazon gift cards at Staples? There isn’t any fees when buying Amazon gift cards.
@dank Amazon cards wouldn’t make any sense if you already have a card which earns 5% cashback at Amazon. It would be pretty pointless for most people.
the only way i see is through swagbucks Just buy 2000 SB ($20) each day. Then cash out to your PayPal at 0% fee. It’ll take a while but it’s manufacture spend.
How do you cash SB out to PayPal ?
I’ve been able to bypass the check by going to reload and adding the card when reloading versus adding and then loading. It allows me to put the exact amount on the card that way.
+1

Can one pay with paypal at Staples for these? Trying to find a way to do the CF this quarter
Doesn’t look like you can.

No, they usually check your ID against your physical card
I’ve never had my ID checked against my card at Staples. Kind of wish they would but since they don’t, it’s easy for me to use my P2’s credit card.
Paypal QR code works at CVS. 7x with CFF, 5x with CF. Much easier for me to liquidate $500 than $200. ymmv
May need a new blender soon so I can keep liquidating.
Will it Blend?
I wonder how they track that 5per customer per day limit?
What if you go to another store? or even try the same store again later that day?
Tracking is by eyeball. For stores enforcing, going to different stores is easy fix if you have that option in your area. Hitting same store after shift change works too.
Some make you enter your rewards phone number and check your purchase history otherwise they won’t sell it to you. Some designate only one manager/casher to sell VGC to all customers so that they can spot if you came more than once
I say I don’t have rewards number and cashiers are fine with that.
Pretty sure it gets tracked by the microchips in your arm from the vaccine…
(actually the other two comments are correct from my experience too, all ymmv for different regions though)
At a Staples in LA, the cashier didn’t care when the guy in front of me walked up with 10 Visa gift cards. She just told him they would have to do it in two transactions. So guess it depends on the cashier.
My goal was to use it as a debit to buy money order. So I used to have vanilla visa gift card with no issue. But that one didn’t go through. So I have to use them as a general purchase.
