Our Verdict
There is a stated limit of 1, it’ll be up to the cashiers to decide how much to enforce that. I believe in the past it was even possible to get more than one in a single transaction with no fee if the cashier was amenable, but not positive on that (update: working).
Use a card that earns a bonus at office supply stores, or stack with one of the following deals:

Dosh claims “Gift cards are not eligible for cash back”. Not sure if that’s true or not in fact.
I’ve been getting credited for Dosh with VGC.
I’ve only been getting gift cards at stapler and have been getting $5 from Dosh no problem.
Got $5 7 days in a row buying VGCs during the last promotion.
I am about 80% successful with Dosh. It always tracks but a few get cxld after a few days.

Dosh has stopped tracking for me a year ago, like anywhere at all. Anybody has that happened for you ? But happy I got a GC today, finished up my Amex offer as well. Had to go in right at the opening time and there were already only 3-4 VGC left on the rack. I heard the manager talking to the cashier that the limit is one per customer, not that it applied to me. I’ve had issues too but I deleted/re-entered my cards and was fine afterward .
ebates also offers another 2%
Who ever said ebates would get clawed back was correct. They showed as pending then processed and now they are gone. What upsets me is even the transactions where I purchased things in addition to the GC in the same transaction got clawed back.
Mine are still there (transaction dates 7/1-7/3)
Any idea if you can use a Staples gift card to buy these Visa gift cards at Staples?
No you can’t.
A year ago when I had several Staples GCs I received as gifts, I tried to use it to pay for a $200 VGC (manager was the one at the register), I didn’t ask but just swiped the SGCs and 3 of them with $25 balance went through, the rest was paid with Ink+.
Try it and see if it still works.
Technically it’s not hard coded but my fav Staples dude got canned for letting an MSer, not me, in the area do just that 🙂
It was the manager on the register who knew I go often during Staples’ sale of VGCs so I was confident that if the Staples GCs (he saw them) were not allowed, the register will give a prompt for another form of payment. Since they all went through, it was a win-win situation for both sides.
I’ve discovered a lot of things on my own just by trying them; if they don’t work, I always have a back up; I don’t argue with manager or cashier at any store. I can safely say about 85 to 90 percent of my trial n error have worked in my favor.
been going to stapler on a daily basis… was told yesterday limit 1 per customer so I said my wife and 2 kids are also customers so atleast sell us 4…. there is a benefit to bringing your family along on “churning adventures”
I haven’t tried to get a USPS MO in about 2 years via VGC but it did not work today. Does the post office no longer work, or was it a glitch? I know I can go to Walmart, but right now I’m in NYC with no Walmart near me at all.. and I don’t want to hold onto these VGCs too long. I’ll be in CT this weekend and can go to Walmart. Any suggestions on how to get rid of these before the weekend? I’m afraid of scammers draining them before I have a chance this weekend.

I also just noticed this is issued via Sunrise bank and not Metabank. Is that the problem? Will it still work at Walmart? I hope I’m not stuck with these VGCs…There were not Metabank cards, only sunrise, and they look identical. Please someone have some good news for me.

Loaded the Sunrise issued vgc to BB via Walmart no issue. Bought two more cards next door at Staples afterwards. Those cards weren’t Sunrise but those loaded too.

USPS MO don’t work since Nov 2017, if I remember correctly
I only have a couple Staples near me. One lets me buy 10 cards most of the time, the other limits me to 1 card during the promos
FYI, in-store 4% Ebates cash back appears to be working on these and there doesn’t seem to be a limit. Get it before it gets clawed back.

I went to Walmart to load my bluebird using those gift cards. It was rejected by the POS machine at the service desk, the printed receipt goes “debit not approved call authorizer”. This is the first time I came across this issue, any ideas what happened?

Wrong pin or someone hacked it
The balance is still there. I didn’t get a chance to input the pin yet because the small paper popped up right after I swiped my card. A $500 vanilla card used to work well FAILED as well. Is my bluebird shutdown without sending me an email?
Looks like my bluebird has been shut down without email notification. When I tried to apply for a new bluebird, all I got was
“Sorry, we are unable to approve you for an Account at this time. Thank you for your interest in Bluebird.”
Did you check your spam folder to see if the shutdown email was there? These were sent May 21, check it to find out. If you don’t find any shutdown email, I suggest you try a small load to your BB (make sure you have NOT reached the max limit for July) and if it goes through, it means you’ve not been shutdown.
New to this so maybe someone can help me out. Can you still use Walmart to get a money order with this gift card and then deposit the MO to your bank?
Yes, the fixed values at Staples are metaGCs, I was able to buy a $799.12 MO at a WMNM swiping $200 at a time. These do NOT drain, you have to tell cashier you’re paying $200 at a time.

If buying MO, it has to be at Customer Service or Money Center if there’s one;
$799.12 is max amt MO I can buy with 4 $200 VGCs, fee of 88 cents included. If cashier allows, I can buy more MOs.

For those of you who have the $25 off $100 Amex offer, after using it on GCs are you still getting the “Great! You just used your Amex offer” email? I just bought $100 in eBay GC today and didn’t get the email and the offer still shows in my account.
Yes, soon as transaction is done, I see the email; I’ve finished this offer early June, got my credit and AU also received theirs.
Hmm, wonder if my total of exactly $100 didn’t trigger it and I need it to be $100.01. Can’t figure out why it wouldn’t have registered.
My total was $105.95, paid $100 with OBC and the rest with DiscMiles. Don’t worry about the email, wait until charge posts and usually a day after, your credit will post. I’ve had instances when I didn’t get the email confirmation but my credits still posted on time.
